Offshore

Once India gets their ID cards up and running, Uk.Gov can offshore ours to them.

BT brings jobs back from India

John70

Call Centres

Any company that does business in the UK should have UK Call Centres and employ people that can understand and speak English properly.

1. More jobs for the UK

2. A happier customer. Talking to someone that can actual speak and understand English.

3. More tax revenue for the Government.

I think the Government should impliment an Offshore Tax against companies that offshore UK jobs to India. They are losing taxes because of this and we need these taxes to fill in the massive debt GB and NuLabour has put us in.

'Get cameraphones out of nurseries' plea

John70

There is already guidelines

[she said: "There's a lot of guidelines protecting children from photos being taken on cameras in schools, nurseries and swimming pools, but none to say staff can't take camera phones to work."]

If there are already guidelines about cameras, doesn't cameras on mobile phones also fall under this rule?

RFID

You don't need ID cards.

All you need is RFID sub-dermal implants and a network of sensors to track your every movement.

Opera to take web back to the old days

John70

Web Servers

Most ISP don't allow you to run a web server (or any other server) from your home computer since the bandwidth will affect their networks.

AFAIK ISP's also do port scans to make sure you are not running a web server.

EC rejects Microsoft's browser promises

@The Orginal Ash

"... How do you download an alternative web browser?

Does windows ship with an ftp client"

It does....

Open a Command Prompt and type FTP. There is no clicky pointy stuff. All manual typing.

Here is a question?

How many computers/servers in the EC offices run some version of Windows?

How many of these computers/servers running Windows have alternative browsers installed?

What would happen if Microsoft decided to say "Windows is no longer available to buy in the European Union. People from the EU must now buy Windows direct from Redmond"?

Joke

@AC: I've got an idea.

"All the governments of the world put £5 into a kitty each year.

The save the world fund.

In a billion years we can just buy whatever's needed to deflect "

Won't that be just enough money to get us out of the global recession?

Pirate Party wins seat in European Parliament

John70

Voting

Why are people so obsessed by BNP getting 2 seats? The BNP is seen as a protest vote.

After all we live in a society where we are free to vote who we want.

If the other 70% couldnt be bothered to vote then they have no say after the result.

Best thing they can do is to vote next time round to make sure they don't get in again.

What the main political parties need to do is listen to the voters and keep their manifesto promises, like a vote on the EU Treaty which Labour didn't give.

Come the next General Election we will get the same bull about Crime, Education, NHS and Immigration. And most likely nothing will be done, again...

Ballmer clashes with Obama over US tax rules

John70

Offshoring

Uk.gov should do the same... Any British company that has offshored jobs should pay some sort of Offshore Tax. Especially call centres. Hate ringing them up.

British workers were laid off because of greedy corporations offshoring jobs to increase their profit should be made to pay for the lost revenue in tax that UK.gov would have got from them if the jobs were still being done by British workers.
