The next version of Windows should be 64 bit only.
It should be written from the ground up.
There should be NO backward compatibility built into it, no legacy crap.
For backward compatibility, Virtual PC should be used with older OS installed on it.
If there is going to be any manned missions to the Moon or Mars (or further) it will have to be an International Co-operation.
We can no longer rely on the US of A for advancing mankind into space.
If the International Community pools their resources (man power, technology and money) we could be on the Moon again within a decade and on Mars with 20 years.
I'm sure China or India would love to get a man on the moon, well any other nation just to beat the Americans.
Will you be releasing photos of the construction and testing of PARIS and Vulture 1 before the final launch?
Hollywood might as well go and sue Microsoft since Bit Torrent runs on their Operating System.
Well it is the operating system that stores the data on the hard drive/removable media.
Why has it taken Larrikin Music this long to sue Men at Work?
Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree was written in 1934.
Down Under in the early 1980's.
It is now 2010, nearly 30 years since Down Under and 76 years since Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree.
Is Larrikin Music going to sue all the schools for allowing the children to sing this song as well?
We have the Jesus Phone, Moses tablet...
What's next... Noah's Ark for a storage server?
Only 14% was smut?
hmmm... better do my own survey to see if that's accurate.
Are they sure it's a mistake?
GB@Gov.Uk needs to balance the books and what's better than issuing wrong tax codes to make people pay more?
I'm on Virgin Media 20Mb and I downloaded Star Trek Online 7 Gb in size within 3 hours.
And that was on a week day evening.
...we need Judge Dread style police.
IW alienated clans who wanted their own dedicated servers to run training and play in ladder matches.
IW alienated the modding community when they dedicated not to have dedicated servers so there was no chance of people creating custom maps.
For these types of games to succeed on a PC the games need to allow players to create their own maps and create custom mods.
It was for these reasons why many people cancelled their orders and went back to CoD4.
Do this claim take into account cancelled or refunded orders?
This reminds me when there was an outcry from PC gamers about CoD2 which had no anti-cheat technology which caused the CoD community to lock out their servers for a day as a sign of protest.
I think we should start using planet classifications like in Star Trek instead of using Earth-Like.
Earth = M Class - sutible for human life.
They should force him to put Wireless Router in his house so they all can have free access to the Internet.
Network the village with Wireless.
...link is Epics and Achievements before he could continue his lawsuit?
And what about non-EU advertising companies. Will this ruling affect them?
The advertisers should be forced to use .ads domain so we can block them out in one go.
Why not put pressure on the school to ban mobile phones from school as well?
There is no reason why a child needs to use a phone in school since most of their mates are there as well, especially an 8 yo.
An 8yo with a mobile phone will be a bigger target for theft.
...with these postal strikes and also a large demand for the game?
After saying that Play.com did email me saying that they would try to get the game to me on launch date by using a courier.
And they lived up to their promise. A courier did deliver the game on launch day.
Also on a side note, I've very rarely have any problems with Play.com
Out of the number of years I've used them only 2 items have gone missing in the post which Play.com sent out a replacement with no hassle.
But it's just like any other company, a majority of people have no problems where as a handful have nothing but problems.
...that should be in Viz.
There is a call centre in the UK?
...part of Ireland
Irish female accents are just sexy.
"Similar boxes are used by managers of fleet vehicles and police forces, with dramatic improvements in accidents"
Does this mean that they will be checking to see that the next addicent will be more dramatic then the last one?
They could impose rules that only Latin letters must be used for specific TLDs (.com, .co.uk) and all the dodgy characters restricted to the country's TLD.
Don't know why they are using .BOX
I can download Win7 from MSDN in ISO format.
Did one of the laid off staff insert a timebomb into the code?
Isn't the next step from the Space Shuttle is to develop a space craft that can take off from a runway (or VTOL) and enter earth's orbit without the need for booster rockets?
I think using a capsule is a backward step for the space programme.
Just start using those captured alien flying saucers...
Remote Support is one thing when you don't have to look the person in the eye and lie.
Local Support gives you the chance to roam the office building and become a Desk Rabbit (ref: The IT Crowd) when the cute blonde in finance has a problem ;)
"At least nobody has suggested changing the world time to decimal.."
100 seconds = 1 minute Decitime
100 minutes = 1 hour Decitime
8.64 hours = 1 day Decitime
An 8 hour working day = 2.88 Decitime hour working day
...buy shares in monitor cleaning products with all this touch screen teccy...
It sounds like any application written using ASP.NET could be affected.
The application object could refer to the DLL created by ASP.NET to do background processing on the server.
"After launching the program object, the user is able to interact with the object as the invention provides for ongoing interprocess communication between the application object (program) and the browser program"
[The first, The Waters of Mars, also features Lindsay Duncan, and promises "thrills as well as chills* when the Tardis touches down on the Red Planet".
* Who fans may find the fact that Russell T Davies co-wrote the episode a chilling enough prospect.]
You mean there is a RTD storey that isnt in Cardiff??
Labour should kicked out of Parliment altogether after the complete mess they have made.
Like the mess they made before pre-1979 but people forgot and voted them in again in 1997.
...Microsoft will release a fix to "patch" this "security hole".
Who cares if they want to change the way the calculator works, it's just a calculator.
It's not like stealing their code to put into another product, they just improving the damn thing...
They might finally get the answer to 42
One of the reasons that Linux hasn't made it to the desktop is commercial games.
If games companies don't start creating games for Linux then Linux will be stuck as a server OS.
Don't know about Second Life but these people need to get a life.
If they guarantee a 99% service that means it should be up 361 days out of 365.
I think they should show that video to learner drivers as part of the exam to pass their test.
I also think it would be a more effective TV advert but unfortunately people will complain it's too gory to show.
Maybe South Korean Telcos should start providing Internet services to the West.
As long as they don't bring Phorm with them.
You will find quite a few of the Cabinet are not elected officals but Peers that Gordon Brown created and put into the cabinet to stop him getting knifed in the back by offically elected MPs.
Wonder if this a prelude to creating cloning techniques to make a Ballmer "mini-me"
Banning a film just means that people will want to see it even more and most likely download it from Bit Torrent.
People still program in it?
Microsoft will follow the 3 E's
Embrace the new technology that is now out there. Usually try to buy the competition.
Extend the technology do something a bit more than what is available. if they couldn't buy out the competition.
Extinguish the competitors by out pricing them. If they can't be bought out.
Meanwhile Apple have moved on to the next big thing.
"Not even start-fleet could manage it - only the Klingons and Romulans (who lent a copy in DS9)"
Not true, Starfleet was banned from developing cloaking technology by the Romulans in a treaty.
There is an episode of TNG where Starfleet developed a phased cloaking device which allowed the Enterprise to pass through solid matter even though the cloaking device mafunctioned on the Pegasus getting stuck in an asteroid in the first place.
This episode was also referenced in the final episode of Enterprise when Riker made a cameo on the show as running the NX-01 as a holodeck simulation.
"If they must go through with this, ditch Singer and get Sam Raimi. At least he knows how to rise above the source material, and has the balls to stick with a franchise even if it threatens to be running out of steam."
Sam Raimi has signed up to do the live action World of Warcraft film.
They want to do a new version of the Battlestar movie???
The new series did that for them...
If they want to rehash something, do Buck Rogers.

...just tell me if this is likely to impact OpenOffice at all."
This ruling in theory should affect all Office applications (Excel with xlsx, Powerpoint ppx, etc)
Also Open Office and any other application that reads and writes XML will be affected under this ruling.
I wonder if it's something to do with i4i's product x4o (XML for Office). http://www.i4i.com/x4o.htm
From the link above...
x4o is i4i's response to the overwhelming complexity of implementing an XML authoring solution. x4o comprises three modules:
x4o Author - a real-time XML (or SGML) authoring tool in Microsoft Word. With x4o Author, creating a document is as straightforward as selecting the appropriate template (any DTD or Schema & a stylesheet) and authoring as you would in Microsoft Word.
x4o Designer - an XML template design tool. If you don't use a custom or industry standard DTD, simply create one using the familiar Microsoft Word interface of x4o Designer and already learned Microsoft Word skills.
x4o CMS Connector - a CMS/DMS connector that makes check-in and check-out as simple as File Open and File Save.
Does this mean that the mice have found the answer to Life, The Universe and Everything?
