Re: Still Waiting - Bat out of Hell
I dunno, may be if you buy it again he will come round and perform it for you.
He is supposed to be quite nice.

But if they kill WIN32 there is then no reason to use their OSes.
Force a complete rewrite (there is a .NET escape plan if we HAD to).
Kill WIN32 then we would HAVE to go something more generic.
And it took us about 10 years to fully rewrite into WIN32 and still adding new code all the time.
I have to use Windows at work 7 64 bit currently as I write WIN32 software.
We will move away in a few years, but not sure what to.
To be honest Windows is safe until MS kill WIN32, then it may as well die.
But do we need Windows at home?
There is a choice between Linux and a version of BSD.
My gaming machine is an octo cored machine with yet another version of BSD, playing PC games for me is too much like work.
My home PC is XP as it works and I have better things to spend money on than replacing functional operating systems. It is dual boot so eventually will go Linux.

As I have had Rootes group vehicles, this does resonate a little, but Chrysler UK did go bump and Peugeot took over the remains. They did not have to keep the whole lot open, but the rot set in when they stopped making the Rootes designs (The Alpine and Horribleison were total rubbish compared to the Avengers and Sunbeams)
Sad but unexpected, but no worries, the modern Peugeots are not inspiring cars. Ssd for jobs and the rallying division, but going to French ownership whould screw things up.
Ellesmere Port
No idea why this cut back as my last GM car had an engine from there depite the car being assembled in Germany. But I look at a modern GM car and think - where did it go wrong? Nothing about them to make me want to buy one.
Steel
UK steel is high quality but not cheap, other comapies buying steel go for cheapest.
British made steel is still used on the railways, by JLR.
Solihul
My current car was made there
Can't stand that buffoon either. He is stands for everything I hate.
a) Unilateral disarmanent, b) Argentinian claims to British territory, c) no strike controls, d) anti private school just to name a few.
a) MAD worked and will keep fat little shit from launching one if he ever gets beyond launching washing machines
b) It is the islanders decision not that idiots
c) sympathy strikes, why should a company suffer strikes when there is no dispute?
d) The parents still pay for state schooling - ever heard of freedom of choice?
They have quite a few decent people in their party and they chose THAT! A couple of years ago Alan Johnson would have been a good choice, always comes over well on TV. Now their best choice is Hillary Benn.
Yes the far left socialists like Corbyn, but the rest of us, no bl00dy way.
Oh and don't get me started on Camerons replacement, but when Boris is BEST choice hmmmm.
C5 messed the competition up by removing the "We will not total your robot" gentlemens agreement.
All the expensive and long build robots were retired as the losers did not fancy getting theirs written off.
Look how many times Razer broke down, when it worked it was unbeatable, but when it broke down.....
If it had been C5 it would have been wrecked in series 2 (I think).
I would love to see old favourites with upgrades, we never did get to see how powerful Wheely Big Cheese got as they were aiming to flip a house robot out of the ring.
Got a VM at work I have been assigned with setting up and what is installed - Windows effing 8 with a install windows 10 option.
I offered to fdisk but that would take out other VMs
Start menu is totally broken no obvious run box
CMD is my friend.
Doing as much as possible with file transfer helps too.
I am seriously wondering if I can make Win7 last until 2029 at work!!!!!!
If it was not for the reason I write WIN32 applications I would move like a shot to a more logical OS
And I managed to avoid ME, Vista, and 8.x until now!
Over the years I have been in or driven quite a few LR products. So have had experience of quite a few of their lumps
Yes driven series petrol and Diesel, slow is the word. I would get petrol and a mild tune. But the petrol was quite smooth.
Been in Rover V8 engined products, much better. Carb 3.5 and injection 4.0
Been in TDI as well, pretty good compared to series.
Trannie TDCI rough engine, torquey, but no, too many things to go wrong and far inferior to the previous 2 engines.
TD5 Nicest Diesel apart from the V6 and V8 lumps they now use in Discovery and Range Rover. Has a top end as well as bottem end torque.
1967 would be a 109 and yes they could be compressed air started and ran without eletrics
110 well the TDI200 can be ran without electrics if you pull the stop valve.
Later engines are more dependant on electrics. The latest Trannie engine too much, so that some buyers will look for late 300s or late TD5s.
That 5 cylinder lump though - what an engine.
Now my Discovery has ECUs but the engine only needs 1 and the only essential input is the crank position sensor. Now safe to expedition if you take a spare CPS and injector loom.
It is NOT a device it is an alternate operating mode.
This urea injection rules though have the potential to cause massive harm by immobilising cars when they may be needed.
I would not buy one without getting the firmware modified to allow operation if it ran out of urea, what happens if you ran out miles from anywhere say touring the world and non was available, or the sensor malfunctioned?
Looks like I will be staying with my 2003 4x4 for many years as even that companies cars are not trustable on expeditions now.
To be honest now driving is no longer a pleasure in the modern world
Well we have 4 consoles under the TV, one I never use myself except to weigh myself, and one not used in about a year.
The not used is the best selling of all time, but it is old.
The rarely was the best selling last generation.
The two used are the replacement models for the first
None are MS, and I am not a fan of Nintendo games (prefered the contemparies from Sega)
So I am part of the PS4 success
Thanks for the clarification, I was not sure how to explain as I am not a systems architect. but I did notice the CELL RSX connection was a higher speed bus than normal.
Then you read about NDi and GG optimisation which makes their games look so good, then Ubisoft engineers playing with cloth simulators *

SImply not possible without rewriting the game.
PS4 CPU side of the CPGPU is not powerful enough to emulate a Cell. The Cell is more powerful than the CPU side of the PS4 chip, in fact the Cell used to be used by the GPU for some calculations.
Just buy TLoU and Uncharted collection
BTW I suspect MS are rewriting game engines for their back compatability.
My XP PC has a Linux boot drive as well and I do not like anything post Win 7 (and prefer XP to that) so of course I am looking at moving fully to Linux.
I have a lot of material in DV AVI format, and a growing amount of material in HDV.
I need to capture both formats.
I also burn to DVD and BluRay
Currently got Corel/Ulead Video Studio X3 and for DVD I also used TMPGENXP.
So what should I look at trying out then please?
