Re: ECC? Linux compatibility?

Looking on the Dell website there is a M6700 Linux option so you can have it shipped with RHEL.

iPhone 4 incapable of handling Siri, says chip chap

Alan Scott
Meh

I may be confused...

...but didn't Siri work perfectly fine as a standalone app on older iPhones before Apple got their hands on it?

The $35 android tablet, a snip at $50

Alan Scott

I don't think there are strict minimum requirements for Android versions, but Google does have very strict requirements to be allowed access to the Market.

Sony Vita to control PlayStation 3

Alan Scott

Didn't PSP do this?

I never had a PSP, but I thought Sony touted the PSP as having this feature? Or was this another feature Sony got rid of?

Google's Inventor gets short shrift

Alan Scott
Alert

Not bad, but could do better.

I am in the closed beta at the moment and it is not quite what I was hoping. Working in a school and seeing scratch being used by students all the time, I don't think App Inventor is quite there yet. I am giving it an open mind as it is still in beta. However knowing Google, will stay there for a long time to come.

Vodafone upsets customers with upgrade downgrade

Alan Scott
Thumb Up

Owned by Carphone Warehouse

Bought my Desire from Carphone Warehouse back on launch day, and it was an unlocked one with the HTC original firmware on it, on a Vodafone contract. Also got my FroYo upgrade on Sunday.

Guessing it is easier for CPW not to have handsets tied to individual carriers.

Scratch for Android

I work in IT at a school and scratch is a fantastic tool to teach younger kids the basics of programming, this will only increase the interest of programming from a young age, obviously a good thing.

But do we really want another 10,000 fart apps diluting the Market?

Websense blocks Bing in IM snafu

Alan Scott
Stop

Websense in school

We have a websense box here and we have had to specifically block bing as at the moment we cannot force the students onto a safe search. They go to a video search and they are served up all sorts of smut!

Therefor: Blocked!

Satellites crash over Siberia: Iridium bird destroyed

Alan Scott

Coincidence?

Is it a coincidence that this has never happened before and the many sattelites up there, and only last week an Iranian Sattelite was launched into orbit?

Maybe me, just being cynical!
