Online tat bazaar eBay coughs to YET ANOTHER outage

Re: It's amazing how fault tolerant modern sites are.

Yes, it's the same old ruse employed everywhere from retail to software: "Really!? We haven't had anyone else complaining."

In UK it would start with harassment, which is a criminal offence, wouldn't it?

Hasselblad H4D-40 Stainless Steel 40Mp camera

Hmmm!

"Shiny special edition for the pros"

:) hardly!

If there is a pro who needs one of these cameras they will be buying the basic model. They are in business to make a profit if possible. The SS and Ferrari models are for posers with more money than sense but good on you Hasselblad if there are people who will chuck money your way.

Queen set to outlaw ID cards today

Brian Davies
Thumb Down

I mourn its loss...

Bugger! I was an early adopter of the card. I waited ages to get one and mourn its demise. Still, here in Spain it still looks a genuine ID an I will continue using it for as long as possible. The Spanish and expat residents must carry an ID and the card is far more compact than carrying a passport. What's your problem the naysayers? The new passport will carry all sorts of personal info too.

Identity & Passport Service in suicide bid?

Brian Davies
Unhappy

What a lash-up!

I got an ID card a few months ago because when I travel in Holland an ID card or passport is required to be carried at all times and in Spain it is expected by authorities and needed when paying by credit card. I was very happy to get one, now not sure whether it will continue to be a valid form of ID. What a mess! Will I get my £30 back ???

Germany warns surfers against Firefox

Brian Davies
FAIL

Pedant alert...

"Versions of Firefox prior to 3.6 are not prone to this specific vulnerability but are subject to other bugs, so reverting back to earlier versions of the browser isn't the smartest idea."

Reverting implies going back. No need for both words '...reverting to earlier versions...' is sufficient!

MS says 'don't worry'!

Posted a few minutes ago by Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc on the Windows 7 Blog:

'I know many of you are concerned about getting a product key for the Windows 7 Beta and concerned about missing your chance to get a product key. I can't say much on this just yet but I will say you this: don't worry. :-)'
