HTC One M8: Reg man takes spin in Alfa Romeo of smartphone world

Gary Walker

Good analogy - Alfa vs BMW. I just wish HTC would produce a Windows Phone 8.x version of this thing ! There must be some mileage in that given how everyone save nokia pay lip service - yet it would win much kudos and I reckon a lot of sales for HTC amongst the professional crowd who don't want the hassle and vulnerability of android.

Borland's heir Embarcadero says one dev tool can rule them all

Gary Walker

Review?

At least a quick review would be nice to get an idea of the current state of these dev tools for those of us who've hardly looked at the Borland replacement for years. Just to see if things are as poor as the other comments here suggest.

The Metro experiment is dead: Time to unleash Windows Phone+

I was one of many who moaned about win8. But having actually used it for a week, while it's clunky in lots of places, I like it. I get to most things much quicker now I'm forced to search. I would like the start menu back, just to see things installed but long forgotten about. Otherwise - not bad, even on a non-touch PC.

Intel pushes Atom-fueled storage for homes, SMB

Gary Walker

Agreed - the only reason the Atom seems OK is that it's a very weak processor, and even Intel can build one that doesn't need 100w to achieve that. An i3 might peak in power, but would've done the work in a fraction the time, taming the power bill and feeding your data much more snappily..

O2 bad choice

No, not O2. Surely someone like Orange would be eager to get a star smartphone in their catalogue. Why share the honours with the iPhone?

A real Vaio ...

This is more like it - a proper Vaio. Not just another expensive notebook but something dinky and novel. Nicer if that "1.6 GHz CPU" actually 2GHz, but the rest looks good. And in truth £595 is not bad - early Vaios cost 2 grand+ for (obviously) much less spec.
