I've had a few Haupage cards in the past. None were as good as the adverts claimed. The adverts were correct, but the clever wording always lead you to believe their cards were more capable than they actually were. Their support was non-existent. Luckily I was able to sell the cards on for the price I paid for them.
So here we have an over priced card with misleading claims - sounds like Haupage
several years ago the intelligent among us were astonished that the gov decided to remove discipline from schools and from the home - a system that had worked well for hundreds of years. Anyone with a brain could see this could only lead to trouble in the future. By removing discipline and consequence, you remove bounderies and discourage respect. It was a deliberate maneuver to create such unrest in the future that the people would demand action which could then be offered in trade for some rights or higher taxes. just to ensure the success of this plan the gov also cut back on policing.
Well now the future is here. Why is anyone surprised. How many slack useless parents are whining now because of there own lack of scruples. This is precisely what the gov planned, and now muppets up and down the country are falling right into the trap.
We have a society where those in control can steal thousands in tax evasion, expenses, and general fiddling, and get away with it. Tax payers money bail out the richest institutes run by people with a 6 figure payroll. Useless pointless celebs promote a vacuous 'want it now' lifestyle.
Why on earth would anyone expect these stupid kids to behave any differently to the way they do?
So yes, lets take away the benefit from these morons. I'm sure they'll just sit quietly at home and take the punishment without a fuss. I'm sure they won't react in any predictable way like, ooo, maybe more rioting - when you have nothing, no money, no rights, no education, no morals, no respect, and can't even spell consequences, you have nothing to loose.
If you vote Labour of Conservative, if you stopped disciplining your children, and condone (by in-action) the removal of discipline in schools - then this is your fault - stop whining, grow a set, assume responsibility, and deal with your shit !!
Is anyone else tired of the continual Apple BS? Apple are always trying to sue or intimidate using their whiny snydy tactics, yet have been sued countless times for stealing other companies ideas, or for mis-advertising the capabilities of it's grossly over-priced products. Apple fanbois always whine the loudest and are often the most misinformed. I had to laugh when I found out that a couple of studios (who consider me a rival and slate me because i still use XP) spend more time trying to fix their Apple hardware issues or remove viri from their 'virus free' platform than actually being productive. Plus, the majority of folk i know who have had iPhones dumped it for Android (for a variety of reasons). Even my computer illiterate parents (OAP's) have moved to Windows.

i don't get why any one is surprised. some years ago the government abolished discipline, the teaching of respect, and removed bounderies. The consequences were predictable, but no-one stood up to challenge the morons in power. i suspected that the gov weren't short-sighted, but in fact this was a calculated maneuver. The current gov (which no-one voted for) have announced their plan to cut over 2000 cops from London streets (yes, that's justified), and thanks to gov overspending many councils have been forced to shut down 'yoof clubs' etc
So now we have herds of unruly morons running round in 'gangs' with no scruples or respect, with no bounderies and no concept of discipline or consequence, setting fire to hairdressers and coffee shops etc.
Lets see what the gov offer to do, and what we stand to loose so we can have a safe society
ok, so you loose your phone and it really sux. Now imagine you're the kind of idiot who would actually put a cred card inside your phone to make it 'look like' it can do some thing it can't (like those silly little boys who buy a cheap car with a small engine and fit 'Turbo' motiffs or spoilers to make it 'look like' it's a reak car) and you loose your phone ! the thief opens it up and 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' you've given him your card as well as your phone - you muppet, clearly you deserve neither.

one of the many nails in the coffin of MAC, for me, was the fact that with each new OS some software would no longer work and I'd be forced to not just buy the new OS but then have to buy new versions of software. This problem almost never occurs on Windows. I'm no fan of MS, but W7 will run software thats 15 years old (if need be).
Of course back then Macs really were Macs, Motorola cpu and Mac specific hardware, but now that Macs are PC's (which no doubt has halved the manufacturing cost - not that these savings would ever be passed on to the Mac user) you'd think there would be less problems. I think the main problem with Apple is they treat their loyal users as a cash-cow.
I moved started migrating to PC's years ago as we were paying through the nose for Mac engineers, but soon realised just that our costs were halved by moving over, and we could customise the PC's hardware to what we needed (as opposed to what we were allowed), we got to be compatable with the rest of the world, and while MS is certainly not problem free, any problems we have had have been easily researched and solutions found without the need for over-priced 'specialists' - I'm quite embarassed to think i used to be quite rude about PC users, giving out about Macs superiority - I really was clueless,.. but that was years ago, and I've had no real problems sice migrating.

The irony that there are 'plank' groups on farcebook is not unsimilar to the irony of 'chavs'. The word 'chav' comes from 'chavvy', a slang word used by travellers (fairgrund and circus folk) meaning idiot or moron, the irony being that idiots and morons unwitingly adopted the word as a lifestyle label
so it could be 98% are still on Windows, or it could be that Googles operatives lied to stay in the companies good books. Given the limitations of the google O.S. only people with the most limited computer usage (web, chat, docs, and media playing) would be able to use it. Does it have any sophisticated Graphic, Video, Music, 3D, or Animation editors ? Be intersting to see how many people Reg readers know who would actually consider using Google OS let alone paying $330/year for renting a low spec laptop when almost any other deal is a better deal

I really can't see the point in this unless all you want mobile phone functionality without the phone, in which case get a phone or a tablet. Clearly this isn't aimed at computer users. At least Linux has more functionality.
I really hope it fails for many reasons, but it probably won't because there are plenty of stupid people out there who think it's a good thing (until they've bought one and are tied into an 18 month contract).
At $336 a year you'd have to be stupid or ignorant to buy one as you could buy a proper notepad or laptop with a proper OS and far better functionality, or even a tablet if you don't need a full computer - it fails just on the maths alone,... add to that the limited range of software and capabilities,... really, what is the point,..

I love the concept behind Linux but there just isn't adequate software for it yet. I won't buy Mac again for several reasons, the overpriced hardware (which now is PC hardware so there is no justifictaion for the rip-off pricing), I won't buy into the Jobsian ideal, I've never met a cool Mac owner, and Mac geeks I have known are so anal and often ill-informed gossip mongers. I do not owe Microsoft any loyalty either, but all the software i NEED is available for Windows, much of it is free or competetively priced - so I don't have a choice, I have to use windows (although I could pay twice the price and use a Mac with some limitations and non compatability with my clients).
when adequate software arrives on Linux i wil definately consider it, in the meantime I'll stick with windows as it's problem free (or at least if there is a prob then it's easy to find a solution online)
Talk Talk really are crap. I used to be a customer of theirs. As soon as the service was in place I could no longer phone mobiles. I reported the fault but they denied it was anything to do with them and blamed me and my home phone. I broke my contract, refused to pay a penny and dared them to take me to court - they declined, and i went with BT. The moment I was with BT I could phone mobiles again - which proved it was Tal Talk problem.
I've also seen friends and neighbours have numerous issues with TT and have no recourse but to leave and go with a proper phone company. TT got voted worst Customer Services in a recent pole - you'd think that someone in their organisation would get a clue and suggest that the company improve themselves, but no, that would be professional and competant, so that's not going to happen any time soon. Instead they've impemented this 'malware blocking' service, and you just know it's going to go wrong. It's inevitable! It'll prob start blocking legitimate downloads and Active X.
Still, it's a great way for them to loose more customers!
I got rid of my TV specificly so i don't have to be exposed to crap like this. Now if we could just persuade them to pay for their own wedding out of their own pocket and to STFU then the people will be happy.

there are many crap companies who, to increase sales, rip off there customers by forcing them to buy a new version of the product before the previous product is worn out or broken. Apple make suckers of their customers by making them pay through the nose, enforce loyalty to other products by making them less compatable with products by other companies - these kind of tactics are totally lacking in professional integrity - but then the big Jobs doesn't care, he's laughing all the way and always has been
the same thing with the iPad - an over priced bit of tech with some huge omissions (USB, Flash, etc) which is more compatable with Apple hardware than other brands - I can't help but think 'sucker' every time i see someone holding one

I'll use it until they start putting adds in - it's been getting more and more bloated anyway (currently uses 120Mb+ just sitting in the background doing nothing.
I hate adds, I will happily boycott any product that advertises in a pop-up in a web page or those stupid add on Y'Tube, or even snail-spam through my front door. Most adds in any medium are more likely to put me off a product. Advertising is such a false economy, I'm always suprised at how stupid companies are, wasting time and money on advertising the wrong way and loosing customers. If I want something I'll go research whats available and make my choice based on the actual specs and price.
I'll be quite happy to delete Skype from my PC, I just need a viable excuse - sticking adverts in it will be just the excuse I need :-)

I often text while i'm walking, but I've never manage to fall off a building, walk into a wall or person or anything else. This is because I have two sensors in my head (called 'eyes') which can detect differences in illumination as well as objects & people, and the distance of said objects and people. I then use my own very powerful biological personal computer (I call this my 'brain') to take evasive action when on a collision course. However, i am not unique in this technique. Almost every animal with intelligence (by which I mean having an IQ higher than that of a shoe) uses exactly the same method, and has done for literally thousands of years. It's a tried and tested method.
Lifeforms with zero or very low intelligence avoid many collisions by not moving much. For example, very few turnips fall off tall buildings because they didn't look where they were going by staying in one position on the ground for the whole of their life, even then they only move by an external force over which they have no control.
Any lifeform with an IQ higher than (for example) a turnip, but lower than idiot may find life more complicated with regards (for example) to buildings and the not falling off them .

having been a beta tester for Blueyonder before it became Telewest before it became Virgin, and also having tried BT, Talk Talk, and BE, I can confirm BE are best by a mile. They have support who are actually able to offer support, engineers who are actuall engineers, and their 'unlimited' service is actually unlimited - i think they're also the cheapest, and faster than all but Virgin !
i won't buy Iomega, i have in the past and they've always failed. How can you trust an HD manufacturer who don't even know how many megs in a gig ?
A faster cheaper option than this effort would be get the Corsair 64Gn SSD (285/275Mb/sec r/w) and a cheap external case, and best of all you would be funding a crap company with over priced poor quality products :-)

3D shmeedy, how about a sript that isn't lame - "The Matrix needed Neo to make the decision and has effectively scripted all the events that lead up to that decision" - a-hem (Asimov's 'Foundation' anyone), but a new twist on an old story is ok providing you don't make it suck (matrix 2 & 3) - DeZionized was much better, and made more sense. I'm guessing, going by the Asimov series (19 books) that of the new Matrix's one will be prequal, which would be cool, and other will be what happened after Neo's last phonecall - oooooooo
this woman is not suing because she didn't look where she was going. She's suing because the mal security uploaded the security footage.
We all make mistakes, most of us manage not to make really stupid ones like this, but if we do, hey, that's life. BUT the security had no right to upload the video, and thats the point of contention.
Yeah, she screwed up, and was prob thankful that only a few people were around at the time, and the security had a good laugh - that should have been where it ended. It's one thing to do something stupid, it another for someone to film it and upload it without your permission - in this case i'd sue as well.
I have no use for a pad, although it's the latest fad (sheer poetry)
If i needed a small form portable PC i'd get a notepad which offers a keyboard, more protection for the screen, more connectivity, and more power.
What I have been waiting for is a similar looking device, a usb2 12-15" capacitive touchscreen monitor - a device with built-in 2D graphics (not for game playing or 3D rendering) - so i can look at my large monitors on my desk, and control them with said lap-type controller

surely the whole reason why the U.S. gov is soiling it's pants is because it doesn't want those responsible for the crimes that have been exposed to be held accountable, that's why they're going after Assange instead. The Good Ol' U.S gov, if their laws don't fit they just make up new ones.
