MS are doing what they've always done - 'innovation' by copying or buying out..
Apple's too big for them to buy so yet again they're trying to catch up, again not realising that what is needed is a computer/laptop/netbook/phone/tablet that works - the device is secondary as long as it does the job.
Haven't courts in several countries decided that the GPL holds water?
Admittedly (as yet) not in the UK - possibly because there aren't any developers big enough in the UK to attract the attentions of FSF lawyers (e.g.Cisco/Linksys opened 'their' source code after letters from learned friends).
I recall seeing a picture in 'The Eagle Annual' in about 1962 of the Shuttle - only they called it the 'Dyna-Soar' (a cut-away drawing, not flown by 'Dan Dare'). I later discovered that the X-20 Dyna-Soar really did exist.
It was based on the Silbervogel - built by the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug by Eugen Sanger, and developed by Walter Bornberger (who had co-ordinated the German V1 & V2 programmes) - it was originally planned to take off from Germany, bomb the USA and land on Pacific islands under Japanese occupation.
I'm sure the Russians made use of Sir Isaac Newton's work to get sputnik up there.

Some years ago I treated (mainly) women with eating disorders. I regularly advised them to go to a newsagent and buy a copy of both Vogue & Playboy - both contain pictures of scantily clad/naked women - and compare the pictures in both mags. I'd then ask "who do you want to appeal to - the readers of women's magazines or the readers of men's magazines?"

Are you really assuming that everything is suddenly thrown out immediately you turn on the shower, rather than the more logical (but not necessarily accurate) a load shot out, followed by gradually lessening amounts, until the shower is turned off?

Ms sold it's Health Vault to a consortium of health insurance companies today.

but even I can understand the GPL. Even before I read the GPL FAQ.
I assumed that, as MS is a business company that deals with software (rather than the other way round) they'd understand it too. Time to change the law firm to a company that will advise you rather than tell you what you want to hear guys.
Even Skype, D-Link, Cisco, Supermicro, Verizon, Extreme Networks, Xterasys, Buffalo, Micronet, Aopen, Gigabyte, Asus, Securepoint, Edimax, TomTom etc. appear to understand it, although it took the courts to tell one or two to understand it. Strangely many seemed to have thought that the lawyers letters would stop if they ignored them.
If you write code, license it how you want. Nobody has the right to criticise you. If someone wants to use they play by your rules.
So you don't use it - that means it must be shite?
Personally, I use it a fair bit, prefer 'uk.rec.sheds' & 'uk.media.radio.archers'.
Strangely neither of these (not being binary) have the pictures you might see on 'alt.fan.harry-potter.binaries.gay-kid-porn' (which does exist) or 'alt.bin.kiddieporn' (which doesn't).
