Am not sure what possessed Intel to make a 64 bit CPU that only supports 1 GB of RAM in 2014 but whatever. A Linux tablet for $100 with these specs would not be too bad.
I would still feel bad about swelling the Windows sales figures. But at least Microsoft isn't getting any unearned profit
Thing is, we put 2013 Nexus 7s under the tree for the whole family last year. Dealing with these crappy screens might consign even a Linux tablet like this to the hobby projects bench now. Robotics applications might be interesting, or balloons. Multipoint cameras and the like. It's Raspberry Pi for folks who prefer a more complete kit.
You're our only hope!
I'm all in favor of granting Tom Wheeler extended accommodations at Guantanamo Bay Resort. President Obama did appoint the top cable and wireless industry lobbyist to chair the FCC though. It isn't like he can pretend to be surprised.
I think I am going to go with my original comment on this. "If they can't get no regulation at all, muddled unenforceable regulation will do. Heck, it might even be better as they can tie up potential upstarts in red tape and sue them into submission."
Sorry if I disappointed the down voter, but we are talking about the company that invented the knife the baby strategy.
We are going to go ahead and sell the public down the river, as we promised the Administration's loyal cable industry donors we would do before we were appointed to these positions at their request from our lucrative jobs on their staff. Now if you will excuse me public service is a horribly tedious burden and it is time to take my government paid sabbatical before returning to my position as a highly paid cable industry lobbyist.
Splash out a couple billion for big name artists to show up at stores and give free tickets to concerts and endorse the brand again. And maybe another three story dance club and open bar with live acts at Burning Man. Add a few hundy mil for product placements on prime TV shows and movies. Gotta spend money to make money right? How about a half billion or so to become the official phone of the NFL or WWF? That would be great! Whole hog or none, I always say. We are "all in" on mobile, right?
And over a billion Android devices will be sold this year. It is an abundance of technology. The real winners are the customers just joining the game: they haven't had to pay for the long slog to affordable devices being sufficient. Some of those early devices were maddening.
