Anyone who flies with EasyJet or Ryan Air deserves all they get. These are cowboy airlines whose business model is to deny boarding and charge unexpected extras. If you want to go somewhere use a proper airline.
Can't the authorities eavesdrop on mobile phones without the phones indicating they are active?
He needs to go by sea.
Tis may be a strict liability offence but I think he should appeal to the House of Lords as I would argue that I did not send the text to young girls, I would argue that that the phone did that. I think there is every chance that the House of Lords would be receptive to this argument. He sent the text to is girlfriend but it happened to go to a whole lot of other people as well.
Well 27mm (EQ value) is not wide enough for me. That is the problem with APS-C sensors, producing a true wide angle 20-24mm equivalent value is extremely hard and expensive.
It is not sup rising the race goes overt the Surrey hills and part of the route was along Staple lane and there is a break in the circuit their,I know I drive to work that way everyday and get cut off!
Seriously considering one of these
This is an amazing camera and not shooting over 400ASA is no hardship to anyone used to using film. It is possible to change the mount on the camera to accept Leica R lenses so lenses might not be a problem.
Ultimatly true but premature
This story is correct but probably written about 7 years too early. There is no question more and more macs are finding their way into business. It amazing how many corporates are switching to Macs for client machines.
iPads are still growing in business, Rim is on the back foot, Nokia is loosing market share and so on. Apple still has lots of potential for growth, remember Microsoft still has 90% of the computer market split across various vendors so it is difficult to believe that Apple market share has reached its zenith.
Like them of hate them Apple have changed the game with so many innovative products and forcing change. Apple dropped ps/2 and din (in favour of USB) and floppy drives about 4-5 years before PC users, and the list goes on and on. Their biggest success was the switch to OSX which brought to the user the most stable desktop operating system a crown it still wears today 10 years after the launch of OSX.
I am trying to Patent a Nuclear Fusion powered mobile device can anyone help me with the wording. I might as well try to get in before Apple.
I don't understand how these patents are granted. A patent has to be an original idea and not obvious. Having a phone with a built in sim or identifying code is not original.
Are the US incapable of logic?
Don't you get how wrong this is. The USA has no jurisdiction over what a company in Alderney does. The USA has jurisdiction over its citizens in its country. If the USA wants to take measures over people in the USA for visiting a foreign web site that is their right. There is no obligation for a foreign company to do anything US law stops at it borders.
I do not understand why the US government and its courts do not understand this. It is a simple concept.
Can you sue a 14 year old in Australia, what is the age of criminal responsibility there?
Restore the Great into Britain
Well Cameron want to support enterprise, well how about getting BAE to move lock stock and barrel back to the UK. Find out what BAE wants to do this and do it. Make sure the sam offer is available to other industries and get Britain manufacturing again.
Business have move away for numerous reasons, indirect taxation ie employers NI, rates, energy costs here are higher than other arts of the world, too many employment rights. Fact is businesses vote with jobs and they have all moved abroad. This is Blairs legacy. The last government to understand business was the Thatcher Government, the Major government did nothing on that front.
If Argentina attacked the Falklands today there is more than a 50% chance the USA would put an arms embargo on the UK. We have to have our own independent arms industry. If you don't believe me look at history, the British and French Governments were ordered out of Egypt by the US government (Some special relationship!) get out we were told or we will sell the pound and break your economy.
No all machines are the same
This is a different kettle of fish
In reality he can't be convicted twice for the same offence, but he can be convicted for committing the same offence twice.
The most likely action is that the judge will him for the password and return him to jail for contempt until he relents.
Many journalists have been jailed for contempt for refusing to name sources but the courts always give up in the end.
I always thought that Australian law was based on the british system, and in Britain you cannot be the victim of this fraud because it would be the buyer who would loose under these circumstances. An owner always has title to property unless they dispose of it. In this case the person who "Sold" the property did not have title to the property so the transaction would have been void. In the same way if you buy a stolen car it will be recovered fro the buyer as the owner "Victim" of the theft did not give up title to the car so it would have remained their property.
I will be surprised if this matter is not resolved in a similar way after a court case in Australia.
Travesty of justice
A sarcastic comment conveys the opposite meaning to the literal wording. No one but a complete idiot could have mistaken this message as anything other than a sarcastic comment.
Therefore he is quite clearly NOT GUILTY. Only trial without a Jury could have produced a result such as this. I sincerely hope that he does appeal this sentence for the sake of free speech if nothing else.
My guess this info has been commissioned by the US Government and Google is undertaking this task as a commission. Can you imaging being able to tie up a MAC address with a physical address.
We all know that every colour printer prints the MAC address on every sheet in hidden yellow dots, so when you "register" your nice new printer, they know who owns a printer with MAC address *********
In the UK the poice are routinely collecting APNR data about car movements and mobile phone data is collected as we move from cell to cell. It is getting to the stage where "they " know where you are, who is travelling with you and what computers you use and everything you have written on email and the internet.
Why plead not guilty?
I cannot understand why this man pleaded guilty to this.
It was quite clear that this was not a serious comment and therefore could not possibly be ".grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character"
I lament at people who buckle under in these circumstances as it allows the authorities to set a very low bar.
A vote for JC
I remember my wedding as though it was yesterday, I wish it was tomorrow I'd cancel it.
Another vote for JC.
How about books?
The ruling is quite correct. I see no difference between the purchase of a piece of software and the purchase of a book. When you buy a book you don't have a licence to read it and if you pass it on you are breaking the law and contributing to piracy.
What we now need is a similar ruling in Great Britain.
Who took the Great out of Britain - Labour
There was a time before the so called "Invisibles" that our economy was reliant on exports from our arms industry. News would ring out every time an oil state placed an order for tanks or aircraft.
Today we have no Navy to speak of and no arms industry. It was the French Exocet missiles that sank the Sheffield. Now the French are selling us anti-Exocet missile missiles, brilliant!
Saw it coming but still think they have made a strategic error.
In the short tern Google will see a virtual doubling of fee income. I have been using GC because it is almost pound for pound the same cost as the payment processor we use. Netsuite are about to launch GC integration for their customers, but I for one will not be implementing it on my Netsuite site. A consequence of the price hike, those of my sites on which I am using GC will switch over to payment processors only.
In the short term GC will double its revenue, but who would choose to use this service in the future where it is so uncompetitive? I would suggest it will be only very small sites that will retain this payment method, which is a shame as GC was a real alternative to a proper payment processor.
I never buy from any site that only accept PayPal, but I have been happy to spend money with Google Checkout, ho hum.
NOT IN GUILDFORD
I live in Guildford and the local exchange does not support speeds greater then 2Mb.
Why keep logs
Why don't these companies simply just not keep logs. Why does Google have logs of every user who has ever watch video?
It must be a terrible hassle to fight and comply with these court orders. If you simply keep no records, then all you have to say is that they don't exist.
Brilliant, now instead of sending my Treo, Ipod, iPhone back to a repairer for a replacement battery, I will be able to chuck it in the bin and just fit a new one without having to pay for the privilage.
You're kidding right?
Is this the same EU that introduced the WEEE directive ending the single market.
The ROSH directive
The Waste Packaging regulations
The REACH regulations
Life was so simple before the EU sat down and thought of new laws to make.
The EU has done more to drive out of business SME's than any government ever has. Most of the regulations are so onerous, and are binding without diminimus that SME's cannot afford the costs of ensuring compliance, consequently the sell out to conglomerates.
Wrong Decision- kinda
It is quite correct that Sony should be able to sue for loss of profit. However, they should prove their loss, since Sony is suing the distribution company. It makes no sense to allow someone to sue you for something they cannot prove they have lost. To require the person being sued to prove anything is a reversal of Habeas Corpus.
