My concern is that when 'energy to cheap to meter' does finally become a thing, those who are in control of it will find a very efficient way to meter it, and make themselves (as near to) 100% profit (as makes no difference), and we plebs will be no better off for it.

I have had mine since a little after launch, didn't realise it was broken. What's wrong with it?

At the Gin festival i went to, different Gins came with different accompaniments, ( apparantly as to not clash with the blend). Some came with lemon, others, ginger, or basil, or even peppercorns or chilli. Different Tonics too.

In the box for my apple watch, was expecting to find a cable but to have to sort the plug out myself (especially after seeing the size of the box).

it's great for travel, and would get my vote if there was one for a new 'standard' mains plug design.

Probably not.

Apart from actually getting the updates when they are released. I could (on a 6s, coming up on 3 years old) have access to the iOS12 beta, should i so wish.

I will have access to the full release on the day it is released, as will devices as old as the 5s (5 years old?) and the iPad mini2. Even the last iPod touch will get it.

Are we any better off from the meaningless spying? maybe, slightly, but probably not.

For me, CarPlay (certainly seems to) only work when plugged in, despite the car having both bluetooth and wi-fi.

Which is a bit of a pain, you don't always want your phone charging for the whole of a long journey.

No, Apple released the 8, to replace the 7.

The X, was released (originally) as a limited run, special edition anniversary device, to celebrate 10 (X) years of iPhone. (At the same time as the 8)

As i read it,( in articles when both devices were released), the X was never expected to be the better selling device.

I think it was the same on mine. Tellingly, they removed the switch from the iPad a few generations back. Certainly not there on my Air2, which is a few years old now.

Can't find any reference to the switch in the settings on iOS11, on a 6s.

Not necessarily.

I read a bit about a study recently, into the effectiveness of placebos, including three groups.

one - actual medicine, one - placebo but thought it was real, one - placebo and told upfront 'you are part of a placebo control group'. The end results were that all 3 groups proved to be (more or less) equally effective.

I've had my apple watch (3, Nike) for a few weeks now, brought to replace my Pebble Time that was getting progressively more screwy.

I haven't found the need for many apps(other than the built in), but i expect that will change with time. Only one that i have looked for and not been able to find a suitable option is a basic compass (which i had on the pebble).

Generally speaking, I'm finding it great. Nice to be able to go to the gym without my phone but still listen to the playlist i have synched to it. I'm finding Apple pay much less jarring to use than i expected (and better than taking my phone out to use it).

ONLY if it is a collaboration. otherwise, you end up with some albums where there are single tracks scattered all over the place in different Artist folders because track one is "The Guy + and some other guy" track two is "The Guy + and this one dude" for 11 tracks.

If you do, "Track 1, feat some other guy" by "The Guy" sorts all that out.

They do, but a couple of times i have received emails from services i have never heard of, so i go in, have 'forgotten my password', reset link gets sent to my email, i now own the account.

I am going myself this year, first time for this particular festival, only my second visit to the site. Thoroughly looking forward to it.

Why portable?

That was my first thought as well, but thinking about it, i have a couple of possibilities. Mainly, if it is nice weather, you might want to take one into the garden, still within reach of Wi-Fi, so that you can control your music, and do other things.

Other option, much more likely, you cant stand to be disconnected from the hive mind, so carry it with you around the house, from room to room, where you can plug it into the mains.

Do you often have multiple deliveries on the same day at different times?

I know that there are many situations that i find myself outside the 'normal' categories, but the likely hood that I will have more than one delivery a week, let alone a day, are vanishingly small.

I'm surprised it took till page 3 for me to find someone else saying this, specifically, how do you know (apart from on day 1) how many red balls are in there?

Every day, someone takes out 1 ball, but you don't know what colour it is. so there is a possibility that after say, 15 days, all 12 red have been taken out, but because they were removed on non test days, you have no idea. As the tester, every day (whether you are testing or not) there are between 0-12 red balls in the bag.

As others have said, there is a chance that people are coming in drunk on consecutive days, so that could be two or three reds in a row, which would increase the immediate chance of getting caught, but in the long term it would decrease it (which i guess balances out?)

i think I'm getting carried away here because it's Friday morning and I'm full of caffeine, but, with the 'balls test' (in this case) surely the correct way to conduct it, is for two people to be involved, one (the 'drunk', chooses a ball from the bag, and keeps it to them selves, unless the other person (the 'tester') asks them what it is, repeat until either the bag is empty or the 'drunk' gets caught.

charge times

Easy jet already prefer you not to bring hold luggage (or, well, charge a bloody fortune for it), so make that even more 'preferable' and use the space in the hold that would have suitcases in it, for freaking giant, easily removable, batteries.

During passenger loading / unloading, forklift comes and takes the old batteries out, shoves some new ones in.

What i read elsewhere is that it is less about the overall price of the vehicle, and more about how much of a deposit you are able to put down.

Even so, with nowhere to charge one of these things (can't do it at home or work) , i will be sticking with good old dead dinosaurs for some time.

The camera in my phone is considerably better than the camera that used to be in my bag, as a result, i do have some photos on my wall that were taken with each.

my guess, is because it is a (effectively) a 'data only' SIM. We have loads of them here for our mobile staff. They have cheap nokias for phone calls, and a tablet with a data only SIM for, well, everything else.

Also, to me at lease this explains the '2 SIM's 1 number' issue. It's not that that both have the same number, it's that only the one in your phone -needs- a number, because the one in your watch is only dealing with data, it doesnt need to care what 'number' it has.

I've seen a few people mention this, and it sounds like a good idea. I'm assuming it's an iOs11 thing? as it doesn't work on (otherwise) up to date 6s. Can't find anything in the settings either.
