A lot of Anal Resters here trying to impress us with their Literary skillls.
Pity they are ignorant about the Rocket business- All ,repeat All Countries launching Rockets experience failures.
The smart arses denigrating the Chinese would have trouble with Fireworks on Guy Fawkes night.
Re: Ribboned for your pleasure
Down in the South Pacific it is often called Varsity.
Never went there myself.
NO APPLES TODAY
Believe it or not, there are people like me why survive and indeed prosper without having the shiny gadgets you all seem to find essential.
I do have a cell plone - which is used for Phone Calls in my Car.
On those rare occasions that it is needed for an Emergency or Breakdown.
I do not stare at the screen while walking , so I am not likely to injure myself by hitting obstructions, falling into holes ,or getting hit by Vehicles not noticed .
Life did proceed quite well and successfully before Cell Phones .
Most of the time these objects are just great TIME WASTERS.
PS My local Telcom recently gave me a Samsung S4 Smartphone, for my good behaviour (I think), and I donated it to my Grandson for his 17 birthday.
He loves those sort of things. I hope he walks carefully and safely.

Re: Abandon ship....
Bit useless manning the pumps when you are abandoning ship.
Re: Propaganda @Robert Long 1
Blair hasn't been charged with War Crimes, for the same reason that Bush hasn't.
Bush/USA can tell the World to get fucked because USA have things called Thermonuclear Weapons.
Blair is their friend-Like Cameron.
Just like when the British Empire was the big Bully- Might is Right.
This last bit wont win me many friends!

ian 22- In a Puff of Smoke!
Don, I do NOT have saggy boobs!
It all sounds like Bullshit to me.
First make the item out of an appropriate material, even the Afgans manage to do that.
Greetings-- The probability is something you cannot decide from the events that have happened to two people.
Evaluate two million and we start to get reliable reliability numbers
However we all tend to go by what probability does to us.
Happy number crunching.
Re: Are you telling me...
My History book says in 1066 , England became part of France,(well Normandy) when Willy came over and caught Harold when he was having a hard time.
He had just defeated some invaders up North , and after marching up there ,having a Battle and marching back down again , his Army wasn't at its best.
A bit of different timing and History would have been very different.
Re: Shakiness of Dell
asdf-Perhaps you mean crashing.
Re: For heavens' sake, those balloons were launched from an observatory!
Yes, and I got a surprise when I saw Mount St John below the Googly.
Large Eadon Collider
Why do some of you hate Eadon?
Has he been caught Peeing upwind?
Re: They're all at it
Where can I go to confirm your statement which says "bollocks" about Samsung selling.. 10M units in a month.
Not in the market for this type of product now and maybe not in the future.
Barcodes /Numbers Tattooed
The Germans had a system a while back (between 1933-45) where a lot of people who congrecated together, had numbers tattooed on their arms.
The system is not new at all.
Please Sir don't get your tits in a tangle over this.
It is only some bits of shiny metal that you play with to pass the time.
Don't worry-be Happy.
Common old G type stars like the Sun don't shoot plasma for light years off their poles.
That is done by Black Holes.
Well LarryF54 , the fact is that the USA is big and we are small.
You know the principal that might is right.
On top of that we don't have an Air Force any more, & the Navy and Army are just remnants of once magnificent services.
God Defend New Zealand.
Re: Half a dozen of one, but only six of the other.
I still don't know who are the more stupid, ignorant, mindless, revolting, shitbrained heap of Morons.
Are they the Democrats or the Republicans?
As I live far away I don't understand the Politics of USA.
Dear Anon, 17.20 GMT,
I think that your little bit of humour in this discussion is failing, as there appears to be a lot of humourless miserable twits hanging about here.
I am too old for the Dole -what a Bugger.
I am Happy!
My new Wireless Logitech Keyboard is loverly-loverly(as in a Musical)
Happy with price, happy with performance
Some people would moan if their Bum was on fire and moan if you put the fire out.
I have had some less than ideal keyboards but I haven't got excited and screaming over them
More imporant things in life .
Re: Rude manners
I don't know if it was rude , but the late Lady Dianna(formally Princess) referrered to the Royal Family as "The Germans".
It is worse in NZ
At those formal greeting occasions where an unfortunate visitor meets a Maori (usually jumping up and down and sticking his tongue out) he will be expected to rub noses with him or some other Maori.
I can't think of anything worse than this sort of greeting/behaviour , but in another century or two the Maoris may have became civilised.
Any Limey or other foreign devil who tries to bring their own food in with them when they visit New Zealand will have it confiscated and fined if they don't declare it.
Only get it confiscated if they declare it.
Why? Well we don't have many nasty things here like Foot and Mouth and nasty Bugs that could destroy our Agricultural industry>
Young holding Bombs etc.
That's old news.
There were many teenagers during a thing called WW2 ,loading Bombs ,dropping Bombs , shooting Machine Guns ,Rifles,Bazookas etc.
I have a Brother who had Two Machine Guns (Point 5 calibre) that he used to shoot at Japanese up in the Bouganville area. He was 19 at the time.
People liked teenagers shooting guns and dropping Bombs then.
Re: Mixed lessons from history?
The reason that the Russians did not veto the vote on UN gettting inolved was that they had walked out and they were not repressented at the time the vote was taken
They learned their lesson and never again let having a hissyfit get in the way of being able to throw a spanner in the works.
Re: Mixed lessons from history?
The Yanks did let off a test Bomb in the Desert to check if a Plutonium Bomb would work.
They were sure that the Uranium Bomb would work
The test Bomb was a bit of a surprise, as I think the yield was about 4 times that calculated.
Don't know if the sums were entirely British.
Peace be with us all.
Re: "...required for safe and effective weapons delivery." - RAF
Early in WW2 the RAF was very civilised and did not bomb Civilians as it was consided by the Planners to be important to behave as Gentlemen.
Lots of bits of Paper were thrown out over Germany telling them to be sensible and surrender.
Things changed quite a bit after the Hun did the Blitz on Britain. He had done similar things to Civilians in Spain,Holland , Yugoslavia and Poland before that.
The Americans don't bomb Civilians ,they just do Colateral Damage instead.
Re: Eff them all and let God sort it out
You are George Bush (of Iraq/Afghanistan) Mark2.
Re: Overly sensitive
Bugger me arn't the current generation super sensitive lot of farts.
When I was a young lad all this bullshit about correctness was not in fashion.
For instance, a girl in the mob I was in was called Hideous, a bloke who had been left with a withered leg by Polio was Kickidy, and a Maori bloke who had a very dark skin was Blondie.
No one got into a big hissyfit over it. Probably had things of more consequence to concern us , like WW2.
Any important stuff happening at this moment in time?
Some nerp or nerps fudged the books over the height of the wall required in ALL regions.
If you have been awake at all for the past 2 years you would know that people were unconcerned about the Tsumani coming because they knew that the height of the barrier was high enought for any wave thought possible.
Force 9 quake was the first for about a thousand years.
PS . All of Japan is subject to quakes .
Re: With a bit of CGI...
I got confused for a moment - I read coke as cock.
Had a spasm.
8 more mentaly handicapped for us
Scott 26 ,
Unfortunate that there are lots of people who seem to drink large quantities of Coke.
I watch the trolleys at the local Supermarket(PaknSave) and lots of them are piled up with Coca-Cola and that rubbish cheap white Bread.
M.B. I read it as EXPAND
I was impressed by the sheer scale of it all when I clicked "maximize comment",
Re: Chocolate Teapot
The story I remember is that the computer on the Sheffield did a reboot as the attack was getting under way, and then another ship came along and got in the way of Sheffield doing anything at a vital moment.
Computers probably continue with that annoying habit today.
Depending on missiles for defence was the in thing at the time , but the crews very soon set up machine guns anchored to the railings to give adequate close in fire power.
PS . The Americans had the same philosophy in Vietnam , while the MIGs had cannon.
The American pilots were at a disadvantage from my memory of events at that time.
I will make a prediction-(a safe one) That the next shootout will not go as any of the planners have planned it .
Like all wars, it won't get faught the way the planners/stratigists etc stated it would.
Icon - for the tears that will flow.
Britain during the Industrial Revolution
and later exploited small/young/immature people in diabolical and dangerous Factories and Mines.
The Royal Navy in Nelson's time used 8 and 9 year old sailors as "Powder Monkeys".
It is only very recently that Britain has been able to become all sanctimonious.
Re: Medical researcher finds that medical people are wonderful!
It seems that you are not fond of Doctors, and the best thing for you to do is to avoid all contact with the greedy rotters.
My Doc. seems to be an exeption, he actually seems to be a carining sort of youth.
He will grow out of it , as he is only up to age 47.
Re: EADON the OS n00b
I am a Linux user-I just like to come here to watch the zealots abuse each other about which OS is the Worlds greatest
Paying up for the Government making so many cockups,is a small price to pay for such entertainment and the joy of seeing Key and co roasting on a open fire.
Re: I have a question
The front is the pointy part.
You landlubbers know nothing.
Re: Fascinating but.....
The carpet bombing of German cities was only done after the RAF had tried daylight bombing of military targets and suffered heavy casualties .
They switched to night bombing to reduce their losses ,but night bombing without any radar or any other aid early in war was a
very hit and miss appair. Mainly miss , with only about 5% of bombs getting within 5 miles of the target.
Carpet bombing did not start until 1942 when Bomber Command had built up sufficient numbers to acheive some success.
The bombing of civilian targets by the Germans was mainly in 1940 and 1941.
They did try to create a Fire Storm in London on one raid but failed as the second wave was cancelled due to bad weather.
Bombing was the only way of taking the war to the Germans, until the Invasion in June 1944.
It is just as well for the post war generations that the Germans did not win , as they would have treated you like the other enslaved people of Europe.
PS. madra, perhaps you should read up on WW2, you are a bit uninformed at the moment.
Re: Citation needed.
"I don't know what he did in the RAF "
He was a Navigator in Bomber Command.
Von Braun was a Major in the SS, and was certainly a War Criminal.
Re: lack of consensus, lol
That link didn't work, Have you anything better?
Re: Homo informaticus?
Greetings Evil Auditor,
I read it as the carrying around those new fangled Tablets being the cause of these girls suffering from stress and strain.
Anyway they are much better than us at bearing pain, so it should not really be a problem.
