I went to install a game yesterday, only to find that it wanted permission to access my SMS Messages. Cancelled the instal.

They have a dedicated Apple section in most of them now - Macbooks, iMacs, iPads, even a decent number of accessories. They also quite heavily promote Macs in posters and big in store displays.
Unfortunately they still know nothing about them - I overheard someone telling an iPad customer that he could get 'Work and Excel' on it, but that he would need to the 32GB version if he wanted to install any apps. He then said that most apps were free, but a few cost Ten Dollars.
This is in the Sheffield Meadowhall PC World.
Options>General>TICK Temporarily allow top-level sites by default (base 2nd level domains)
This allows scripts to run on sites that you visit - but not those from other domains.
I'm assuming that if you have decided to visit, say theregsiter.co.uk, and you want it to work properly, then you want to allow scripts from that site but not any third party sites.
This will allow most sites to run without user interaction. I think its a fair balance between security and convenience.
'This is one of the reasons why I use Chrome on OS X now instead of Safari all the time.'
Why? Because you dont trust yourself not to seek out and download a insecure file (which doesn't appear to exist in the wild), to execute it, confirm that you want to run it, and then type in your admin password.....
Are you that stupid?
Craigness, the answer is no - its not even being used after 2 days on my iphone- its rubbish.
It renders pages badly - text can't be read at all without zooming in, and zooming is jerky and impossible to control. Tap to scroll to the top of the page doesn't work, its ugly, and no use for secure sites.
There are a number of dunces on here who seem to think Apple is involved in this. You have really failed to understand the point haven't you?
The email isn't to warn to people that unlocking and jailbreaking is illegal, but that they have been duped in to paying someone else to unlock it when they could have done it for free.
The beef here is that someone stole to Dev Teams FREE unlocking tool, and is making a profit from it.
Why would apple want to highlight that the could unlock their phone for free instead of paying some shyster to do it for them?
This can also be annoying if a developer decides to release an update that adds things you either don't need (eg additional language support), or don't want (ad feeds fro example).
If you upgrade to find that adware has been inserted to one of your apps, you are stuck with it. If you choose not to upgrade, you will permenantly be stuck with an update badge on your App Store icon, and you can never use the 'Update All' option again.
What rubbish. Jailbreaking and unlocking is a piece of p1ss. Anyone who can follow simple instructions can do it in half an hour.
Jailbreaking doesn't make your phone unstable at all - thats just what Apple claims to put you off. As for firmware updates - every single version has been broken so far - usually within a couple of days of the official release. Just wait for the jailbroken version before you update.
@ElNumbre - Are you a moron?? Anyone who thinks that the Pirate Party could win a seat a general election needs to consider that they would need to gain between 10,000 and 20,000 votes in a single consituency for this to happen. Bear in mind that around 90% of voters choose from the main 3 parties and you'll start to understand that the idea that they could ever win even a single seat is utterly ridiculous.
Wayne - NoScript is a real world solution to the problem, unlike your solution which would render many sites unusable.
you may not like it, but far better to have a secure solution (NoScript) that you can actually use rather than yours which would leave you unable to carry out most of the things many of us do online.
I think my mac is pretty safe:
Router firewall, OS X Firewall, Virus Barrer x5, Little Snitch, Firefox with No Script.
But more importantly I do not download stolen software, use torrents or other illegal file sharing network.
And do not enter your admin password without thinking you MORONS.
Anyone who got this trojan deserved it.
