WikiLeaks reveals searchable trove of Sony Pictures documents

Mike Johnson

Why is it 'hard to sympathise with Assange'?

The charges against him in Sweden were trumped up by two women with ties to the Social Democrat party and he quite rightly fears that the Swedes with hand him over to the US authorities for rendition if he surrenders himself to the Swedish legal system. There is plenty of evidence that the Swedes will happily hand over even Swedish citizens to the US without judicial review.

Jimbo Wales: Wikipedia servers in UK? No way, not with YOUR libel law

Mike Johnson
Stop

It does not matter where the servers are!

To fall foul of UK libel law requires only that one of the people responsible for the site resides in the UK. Where the servers are is totally irrelevant!

Sony Ericsson: 'We dropped the ball on iPhone'

FAIL

The problems started earlier than that...

like how about Ericsson shooting themselves in the foot by partnering with Sony in the first place?

I put Sony on my list of companies that I will never buy from when they decided that installing root-kit hidden spyware on people's computers was OK. Despite all the interesting things they have come out with since, I still see no reason to take them off that list.

Companies that like to bully their customers don't deserve customers!

Simple solution

As the data is stored by Javascript, I would have thought that the wonderful 'NoScript' plugin for Firefox would nicely protect you from this kind of unwilling tracking. If you don't allow Javascript from kissmetrics.com to run, then they can't get the ETag value!.

Don't believe a word of it - This is a setup

Simply put, this is a set up designed to make people scared of sending anything to WikiLeaks. Exactly as planned by the CIA in a document previously leaked!

Airport scanners go live today, kids included

WTF?

Looks like I won't be visiting the UK anymore by air

I never thought I'd say this but that's the last time I fly back to my country of birth for a visit. Guess I'll just have to take the boat from Sweden in future.

I fly on an almost weekly basis around Scandinavia and can just about put up with the security theatre as implemented here, but I'll be damned if I'll submit to a virtual strip-search just to get on a flight! As to increasing the dose of X-ray radiation I receive: no way!

Strip-search scanners are security theatre. They will not make anyone safer. They are about getting the sheep to believe that they have no personal integrity so that the next steps towards total control of their lives can be taken.

Stand up for yourselves and refuse to be brainwashed into accepting this crap!

Brown opts for morality over science on 'lethal skunk'

Hardly morality

There seems to be another pair of quotes missing from the headline.

Giving people criminal records, with all that entails, for the simple pleasure

of smoking cannabis can hardly be described as moral.

Maybe "Brown opts for stupidity over science on 'lethal skunk'"

Mike.

Phishing attack evades bank's two-factor authentication

Mike Johnson

This really is ABN Amro's fault.

My bank here in Sweden (SEB) also uses a token to deliver a time/date/tokenID hash generated from an 8 digit challenge.

The big difference here is that not only do I have to generate a hash to log in, any transactions that I subsequently enter that transfer money out of my accounts must also be authorised by another hash. It is much harder (although not impossible) for the hackers to synchronise their fake site to log in, enter the fraudulent transactions and then get another valid hash without arousing suspicion.
