Re: Write-up schmite-up
Depending on which lenses you have, this may not work too well as a direct replacement of the D50. Newer entry-level Nikon bodies do not include the auto-focus motor and require the lens itself to be motorised.
Either you've eyes in the back of your head or you turn 360 and keep walking towards it.
Not just SA
When Netflix was introduced into Canada, the major ISPs reduced the monthly caps ... of course, that was just a coincidence and nothing to do with these companies also dominating the cable/satellite and broadcast rights markets.
I doubt very much, as the right holders, these companies will ever allow YouTube's rental service to ever get a toe-hold in the Canadian market.
Stainless Steel Rat
Humour, action, story line simple enough for easy rewrite to screenplay. What's not to like?
(and yes, I also sent an email)
WTF? Whilst I'm not too sure about Kazakhstan ... it maybe a little over the top to describe Canada and Australia as corrupt dictatorships (unless you feel that having the Queen on your money makes you a serf).
Less rant, more facts please.
(The 3 countries named supplying > 60%).
re: CLI Old Fashioned 28th August 2009 13:50 GMT
Interesting arguement but you miss the point ... what happens to it if I say "But a picture paints a 1000 words".
Point and click. Drag and drop ... these are all intuative gestures which is why 3 yr old kids can manage a mouse ... I doubt there are many 3 yr olds that can manage CLI.
It may be more powerful, it may be quicker but it is a pain in the ar$e to try and learn.
My opinion ...
I'm not a big Microsoft fan .. I so wanted Ubuntu to be accepted in my household but it wasn't (and not because of GUI issues). Too many things didn't work properly and to fix each of them took too long trawling forums for contradictary advice and dropping down to CLI? No thanks.
Tron was a cutting edge film in its day but now it looks shite. Around the same time I was carefully typing out Basic programs from magazines to get computers to do stuff ... why should I still have to do that?
RE: 60K is peanuts
"I notice that the leader of the country is the newspapers, and Gordon does not dare to stand up to them and say "I am the Prime Minster of England, I run the country, I don't clean toilets,so get over it."
And Cameron's just as spineless. The lot of them have made themselves into victims to be manipulated by the press, and not a single ounce of leadership among them."
Urr, WTF? You saying they should just tell the Daily Telegraph to "fuck off, its none of your business!"
I think this might actually be democracy in action ... it is the job of the media to watch over those we allow to rule over us.
Remember that these politicians operate under different tax rules to the rest of us (e.g. they managed to vote themselves a *tax free* 22k GBP expenses allowance. ) and even so, they still can't follow their own guidelines.
I'm so fucking angry about this .. they're a bunch of thieving crooks ... and then you come along trying to argue its a media witch-hunt. Fuck that!
65k may be peanuts but that doesn't justify either fraud or theft.
Urrr, doesn't burning the midnight oil kinda defeat the whole point ?
Yes, having a crap audit trail is a good thing if the first question you asked when the problem was found was "Can anyone prove we've given away lots of confidential information?"
Having a crap audit trail is a bad thing if the first question you asked when the problem was found was "Will this be a problem for any of my constituents and is there anything we can do to minimise the damage?"
Guess which question is more important to a politician?
Dragging you back to your O-level biology (if you did GSCEs you probably never had to do anything as complicated) ...
Green algae is photosynthetic i.e. it takes carbon dioxide and water, mixes it with sunshine and turns it into sugar ... oh, and as a waste product, there is oxygen released.
6CO2 + 6H2O >> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Anonymous coward, you're arguement against this seems to be a bit weak. Algae would add to the oxygen in the water, give fish lots to eat (and an ideal habitat to live in until the combine harvestors turn up) and reduce CO2 concentrations ...
@ BBC Sci Fi
Actually the Triffids will be made by evil white male scientists, working on GM products for a faceless multinational. No doubt these scientists will also be doing pointless and cruel animal experimentation in the background to cross potatoes with cute, cuddly dogs/monkeys etc.
Other than that, i think you're outline is probably correct.
@ Sarah Bee
I also approve of crazy shit for the sake of crazy shit ... however, this was just shit.
Why 4 Wheels
This thing is just plain ugly.
Take off a (front) wheel and we could pretend it was a Bond Bug ... I seem to remember these being quite cool at the time (but I was <10 yrs old so my idea of 'cool' might have changed a little) ..
"Well, Dave, you had your debate. In Parliament. And you lost. Democratically. "
Actually, the UK is meant to be a representative democracy. Members of parliament represent the area in which they were elected. They are (meant to be) elected on the basis of their manifesto.
Laws such as this formed no part of the Labour manifesto ... where's the democratic process? I'm not sure it would be possible to design a less un-democratic 'democratic' system than the one we have ended up with
