Annoyed US regulator warns it might knock SpaceX's shiny new Texas tower down

Re: Am I the Only One Who Wants to See Elon Frog-Marched Out of His Offices in Handcuffs?

It's his charging network that sells the cars 45 minutes to get 300 odd miles mostly and spaced close enough together (except Cornwall!) That's why people bought into it as it becomes practical over say the Nissan leaf which is short distance over night charge stuff.

Truckers, Diggers and Wings

I started reading his books as a nipper Truckers, Diggers and Wings. They dragged me into his mind, his world and told me it was OK to think differently. I haven't stopped since, never met the man but wanted to many times. Now it looks like I never will unless it's a pint in the mended drum.

Legend who will be missed and his books will be re read and re read I just find it hard to grasp the fact the discworld has supernova'd there are no more stories from that land to be told. Just a final farewell on Twitter which broke me.

So long and thanks for all the books. (I know, I know)

Stop the Microsoft, Skype wedding, screams enraged Cisco in court

Cisco video

Cisco have had far far longer than most to get on this one. They missed the boat so now they want the big guns to round up the flotilla and moor it up for them so they can sink it at their leisure by developing something that should have been an RFC/IEEE for at least a decade and no doubt making it a licenced proprietary protocol CVP.

More protectivism and monopoly instigation

BT are the only ones winning the work because they are the ones who run the telco monopoly / Boys club in cahoots with the governbent of this small tiny island which should have been recabled in the 90's.

.

What about Virgin Media, I had fibre to the cab decades ago and BT reckon £56m is a reasonable amount for 2Mb fibre links to a small backwater down south?

can they not just give them 4G and save about oooh £55.5m Oh no as the other monopoly is in force there as well.

"The end of Windows"

Not really the end of Windows is it.

Just one company saying they will make a locked down box to plug into your telly JUST for games. Where are we, 1998 again? My Windows box does a lot more than games. If I want to play a game on my TV then I'll turn on the console.

However if I want to do the other 199 things I use my Windows vm running on Linux for then I shall sit at my desk or laptop :P

Official: Windows Phone 7 to launch next week

Scott K
FAIL

Late to the party

Try well past the closing of the bar, Windows phones have been nursed along since the days of pocket pc. This release has been waited for since before the applephone surfaced. It all seems a bit like releasing a 486-dx33 now anyone who has used a windows phone won't go back to it as it's terrible and most new buyers want ios or android.

GoPro HD Hero camera

Scott K
Thumb Up

I have had one for about 8 months.

I'd give it around 80% as well to be honest.

I use it quite a lot, places I wouldn't dream of taking a full HD camera with me. Just set it going pointing in roughly the right direction and you can get some awesome footage. The 60fps mode is great for slow motion shots and fast paced action. Decent battery life and good sized videos so a 32GB card has plenty of space.

I had a few teething troubles with mine and still have issues with it but for the price I would go out and buy another one especially with the new firmware update and the range of accessories coming through now. Also seeing it used on a lot of TV work The air jaws and bite cam for example.

Does work underwater if you are surfing etc but for snorkelling or diving we will have to wait for the flat lens housing :)

I went overboard on the 60fps slowmo in this vid and haven't quite figured the mini steadicam out yet :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHg8sUJCR-4

And one of some rollercoaster action truly can take it anywhere, strap it to your hand and hold it with 3 fingers, awesome toy :)

plaiting fog?

More chance tbh I think they blew the "lets keep up to date" crowd away with the absolute shiteness of Vista. Even waiting for sp1 has proved fruitless and the Beta version of windows 7 is like a more buggy version of Vista (is that even possible).Ignoring the Beta testers won't help eitnher really in my opinion it's not going to happen unless it is forced upon people, even then 80% will stick with XP over Win 7 or Vista

Virgin Media boosts bottom tier broadband

Scott K
Thumb Down

Hmmm, VM at it again.

Maybe they should get their house in order before offering more bandwidth. They complain the network is choked but then in the same breath upgrade people's speeds. I mean my 20Mb connection rarely runs anything like it should do and dare I actually use it I go down to 5Mb as they haven't enough bandwidth to supply me with a constant service.

Fatcats losing too much money.

That's what this comes down to. Music industry has been doing over all the little artists and record labels for years and now they have lost their stranglehold on the industry meaning it's not as lucrative. Tough shit I say move with the times or die. Rather than bitching and moaning make it so I can download an album which I will pay for but if my PC crashes don't make it so I have to buy it again because I won't I've bought it once I'll get it for free. I mean look at Steam it works a treat people download full games and everyone is happy.

Until they get a release that will work just as easily as Windows for the average man in the street, they have no chance of preinstall overlord status. It's still all clunky and awkward to use. Why should you even need the CLI this isn't 1981 guys :)
