Re: Silly sod
From the chronical - “He is aware he will struggle to find employment in this field now and as a consequence he has started his own business in real-time artificial intelligence based systems.”
If he's as bright as the Chron makes out, he'll be ok.
I'm sorry but I've played all the RE games bar the ones on the DS, and you couldnt run and shoot in RE4, you couldnt run and shooting in RE5 either. 6 is the first game where that mechanic was deployed. Further, the reviewer makes a point of comparing the game to gears of war. Again sorry, but RE4 was before Gears, so the comparison should be the other way round. The green herb is yes still present but you combine or convert these to Herb pills, which makes me wonder if the reviewer actually played the game for any length, or even at all. The game may be a disappointment to some but actually I think it's quite good. It has moved away from survival horror in a part but I've played the campaign through on the 4 main protaganists and started going through the secondary characters.
Proof reader required at El Reg?

Here, let me proof-read that for you. pirate. There you go.
Hope Google Pay Majel to actually do the voice
I can't be the only person who would gladly ditch my iPhone for Android if Google actually paid Majel Barrett to do the voice for this. I can think of nothing more satisfying than hearding Majel Barrett's dulcet computer voice reply to me when I say "Computer......"
With the PSOne's Tomb Raider too dated for an easy retouch?????
Ummmm what do you call Anniversary then? It IS a remake of Tomb Raider (PSOne). Did you play the original? You know? the whole Natla thing......
The sign says it all really. F'ing numpty. (that being the caller, not the writer btw)
"The parallel X-51 WaveRider scramjet project, intended to deliver hypersonic jet engines able to run on normal-ish hydrocrabon fuel rather than troublesome hydrogen, has been delayed into this year."
I for one welcome this new crustacean based fuel type
Hang on, someone's missing
Is it me, or shouldn't there be an imperial throne in front of that window so that astronauts can mutter "something something dark side, something something something, complete...." I demand the installation of one this minute.
Dune - Unfilmable
I read the books and have watched both the 1984 version and the miniseries and remain firmly of the opinion that Dune is simply unfilmable, there is simply *too* much happening to translate it from paper to the big screen and make it less than 8 hours long.
Lynch's 84 version received a lot of poor reviews and he removed his name from the credits using the Smithee alias. The film was bandied about between various people beforehand (pre-production started around 72) including I believe the likes of Ridley Scott before Lynch got a hold of it, having turned down Return Of The Jedi (*sob*). 84 version of Dune was going to be split into two films but it never happened and we ended up with a pretty poor version that only vaguely resembles anything in the books, weirding modules etc. Please don't film this, it simply cant be done proper justice.

Re: The danger is that this leads to a moral disconnect from what is actually going on: the "pilot" will probably never have been to Pakistan and can go home in the evening to his happy family life. "What did you do at work today dear?"
You are SO VERY VERY TERRIBLY misinformed my friend I almost fell off my chair.
I actually have knowledge of certain people who fly these things and they are some of the most experienced flight personnel in the RAF today! A certain person has flown in both Gulf Wars and holds the title Wing Commander. Now crawl back under your misinformed stone......
Reapers and Predators still have crew which control them, they arent some sort of autonomous Terminator-esque killing machine.
Hire Eastern Europeans?? If Lord West is so keen to employ former "bad guys" then I'm sure he could find some home grown talent? Eg. Gary McKinnon? He would be far better employed in the service of Her Majesty rather than languishing in an American jail surely?
"My neighbour later told me she had seen two young men with a bike with a box on it and a big black net." - And this didnt look a tad suspicious?
I got my original tax disc about 3 weeks ago after renewing online. Was suprised to get another one in the post the day before yesterday. Was wondering what that was all about!
You are faced with a angry WotC lawyer he is small and bespectacled but the glowing tome of Law in his hands burns with what seems like an unnatural flame that wishes to consume your very soul and backpack of gold.
Run away and cower as quickly as possible?
Pull out your trusty battleaxe and cleave him and his foul tome in two?
Summon a dragon to fight on your behalf?
Roll a D20 to decide............
Reaper defo in hands of British Staff
The following link will clear up any of the tinfoil hat brigade's fear that the yanks are in control of our Reapers. They're in the hands of blighty's finest. I know one of them ;P
Bearing in mind that we've only had these bot's for a relatively short time,
It makes reasonable sense to use the existing comms sat network that the American's have set up to control Reapers in joint operational airspace.
