Surely..

at least part of the problem must be that their consumer electronics are crap.

reliability...

I've been through a few DAB radios and still listen to two, even though it's irritating that they broadcast a few seconds late so can't integrate with other fm sets. But apart from needing mains power all the time they also seem to be less reliable, rarely lasting much more than two years. I've analoge radios forty years old that still work fine.

Still using a Maxdata. Cheap, quiet, stable. Perhaps they didn't need to be replaced often enough.

Still waiting for fuel efficiency

30 years ago I got 55mpg from my moggie thou that was already 20 years old, still waiting to match that (apart from a horrendous drive down West Africa in a 2cv) even though I'm now driving diesel. Economical cars could work but please could I have one?
