Doh!

I had absolutely no idea it was a sweeper and not a vacuum cleaner. It's obvious really - it whirrs around the room for a while collecting dust and dirt (more than our Dyson ever did I have to add) and when it's finished you empty it. How stupid of me not to figure out the difference!

I don't entirely agree

I've had a Roomba 560 for 6 months now and think it's great -not brilliant by any means but great none the less. Although in my case the unit worked perfectly out of the box, I think your review concentrates on minor points. You would normally clear the floor with a conventional vacuum cleaner anyway although perhaps not before you start (maybe just shove stuff around with the cleaning head). I'll grant you it does take a long time to clean a room but who cares? The point is you don't have to be there at the time - you can schedule it for when the footy's finished.

In my opinion its bad points are that it needs frequent emptying (after each use), the brush spindles get fluffed up quickly and the spinny brush thing breaks quite easily. It's good points are that it actually cleans pretty well (hence the frequent emptying), you can set it off when you go to bed or go out to work and importantly, it vacuums for you!
