Boffins to UK.gov: Don't muck around with science teaching

James Penketh

I doing my GXSE exams in the next few weeks...

and I'm glad I taught myself a lot.

I mean, I learned at age five, a lot of the stuff they're teaching in Year 10 (fourth year) now.

Education (as well as the rest of the country) has gone down the pan.

I'm very glad that I can correct the teachers (happening less and less now, thank God.) because it actually gives the other students a chance to learn something right.

I get a B or better in my Science and I'm in 6th form. (Currently on an A. So whoo!) studying Physics and Chemistry.

But, if I actually want to learn something new, I'll immerse myself in the internet. I can learn from there, rather than listening to teachers who panic when you know more than them.

Slightly (more) off topic: Guess which level of science the person who asked this question was: "Is it possible for the sun to catch a disease and die?"

That's right. Top set Yr11.

Saints preserve us if they're going to be the ones choosing who runs the country in a few years time. They'll believe any random sh*t they're told.

'IE8 compatible' - the cure for web standards headache?

James Penketh

Microsoft worried about backwards compatibility?

And worried about not breaking something that already exists?

Is it just me who's thinking: "Eh?"

A rose by any other name...

A rose by any other name is still a pain in the thumb if you aren't careful.

What, really, do they think they're going to accomplish by changing the acronym?

This sounds like someone couldn't find anything better to do.

RE: Organised Crime

It only becomes organised crime when they stop paying tax on it.

As long as the government is getting that percentage of their takings they're perfectly happy to let them extort, threaten, etc.

Government predicts one third of people will resist ID checks

James Penketh

ID cards are BS.

So basically, we're going to have to have a compulsory card with a chip holding all the info we have around us already.

And do they really think this is going to stop criminals. How easy is it to get a forged passport. Is is really going to be much of a step to making forged ID cards?

Not really.

And, they get every little piece of information about you and store it on a massive database. right...

How many times have these government databases been completely open to crackers and other criminals?

And what's to say they won't sell on your data. Look at what the DVLA is doing. They will reveal *ever* little piece of data from your drivers licence to anyone who can pay the administration charge of £2.50

I'm also quite happy to provide a scan of my finger.

Can we count to binary four on our hands? >:D

Or binary six?
