so its for making power ...

how long would it have to run for before all the power that was wasted during its construction is recouped?

this is a great idea but I don't see a big payoff, just like using solar panels at home, takes 80 years to break even on housing bills !!

to Anon. Cow.

you still get 2 to 3 spam e-mails a day ?

I've had my hotmail account for over a decade and I receive at best a spam e-mail every few days.

I get a few pieces of junk from specific newsletters I have previously signed up to, but hardly any real spam. Perhaps you shouldn't hand out your e-mail adresses quite so readily ?

British workaholics win EU opt out deal

@Anon Cow

No, they won't be able to force you to do anything, this allows the employee to opt out of a 48hour week and do extra hours if they wish.

This is actually good, especially for small firms with more loyal workers, as it works both ways, the employer gets extra time from employees if they want and the employees can earn extra monies.

What's wrong with that?

What did companies do when they realised the VCR was dead ? Oh yeah that's right, they started making DVDs. It's not Google's fault that trinity mirror didn't see the threat of interweb based news delivery creeping up out of nowhere ... Government announces shortlist for ID card contracts

But this is what the terrorists want ...

They don't care about anything but ruining our way of life. They are slowly but surely eroding all of our civil liberties that really shouldn't have been taken.

Did you know that you can only fill up a maximum of 2 petrol cans at a petrol station and that each can can only be a maximum of 10 litres. What's with that? Obviously all terrorists go to the pumps with their 100s of cans just before committing their acts ... Sure.

Then there's all the CCTV that intrudes our lives, that has exploded due to terrorist concerns and the yoofs {but let's not go there eh}.

Then there's this ID card bullshit, I know I for one will not be getting one until I'm physically arrested and forced to hand over my stuff, I'll go into court to pay fines before I get an ID card.

We are being restricted more and more now because of the terrorists and it's exactly what they want. It's this sort of bullshit that really makes me hate this cuntree, its people {that support these sorts of measures}, and just generally being alive, I think it's time to lead a revolution {but that wouldn't be very English and proper now would it :roll:}

Social networking site bans oldies over sex offender fears

AC
Alien

yeah like that'll work

validating against known e-mails is one thing but checking birth records ... doubt it.

I say we go the other way and ban social networking sites instead since they only serve as either a pretty text message or jazzed up e-mail, the rest is all bullcrap.

MySpace wins record $230m judgement against spammers

@ Pascal

No it's not the rape victims fault because they don't have a choice about being raped.

But to get phished? You have the choice whether you want to hand of your details. I still maintain you have to be pretty stupid to get phished and I have no sympathy for anyone who falls for it.

A log in page at http://www.myspace.com/someguysrandompage would you fall for that? Thought not.

Like bank phishing scams, make a page look like the norm and the idiots flock to it to hand over their details.

Yeah, definately no sympathy.

AC

not really the phishers fault ...

I left myspace a while back {to join stalkerbook haha} because of all the scams going on there.

If their users weren't so fucking stupid then phishing wouldn't exist and I for one congratulate people who profit out of the users stupidity.

Hopefully anyone who has been phished {if they even know they have} will have had such a bad experience they'll stop using our interweb and it can finally be returned to us geeks.

Sky plays the victim over Ofcom pay TV rights probe

AC
Stop

After the saltana debacle

I hope Sky win this, I now not only pay extra for less football from Sky {heaven forbid prices should remain frozen for any length of time} BUT also have to pay more for saltana.

Couple this with the fact that the saltana PMB {pre and post match bull...} is absolute crap compared to the amazing Sky team then I say that I have totally lost out to this "competition" shit.

Let Sky have their monopoly, they do a great job with the football and lets be honest, who gives a crap about movies anyway? Antyhing that's worth watching will have already been covered by our mate aXXo.

"you're paying 407.8p/US gallon ... the English pound is worth $1.98...so you're paying 2.059/Gallon for fuel"

I can tell maths isn't your strong point.

407.8p = £4.078 per US gallon {that's four pounds and seven point eight pence}

£1 = $1.89 so £4.078 = $7.707

which is *slightly* more than the $3.85/$3.95 you guys are currently up in arms about.

Consider yourselves very lucky to have cheap fuel.

What's all this climate change bullshit anyway, I wish so many clever people wouldn't be so collectively stupid along with all the other stupid ones.
