I second all the comments pointing the blame at a committee decision to do something stupid. I wonder if there was a techie or two in there throwing the kind of temper tantrum they should have been throwing against a decision like that.

OSX is UNIX that doesn't suck

It's the best of both worlds. A pretty desktop that easily runs wifi, hardware 3D, word/excel/powerpoint, etc--but that still offers a full UNIX implementation under the hood. Not sure why more people don't get that, even Paris gets it.
