Evolving Ants
Well, surely if they continue to "evolve" their society in similar patterns to humans I, for one, welcome our new Ant overlords.... etc...

As a Latter Day Saint myself I'm interested in being compared to both a brainless cult and the Taliban. While the Church itself does ask its members to adhere to modest dress standards it is also down to personal choice and certainly not the same as some interpretations of modesty seen in Islam. Also, I doubt any Latter Day Saint would condone the actions of the people at the University, I certainly don't. Even if I think that a person dresses immodestly I have no right to jeer or shout abuse at that person. Misrepresentation of religious groups in this manner tars good people with a bad brush. You might want to do some research about people before making some sensationalist comments.
I've worked in IT for my whole employment, it may be a mere 12 years but I have never been in an office/computer room where there have been stacks of coke cans and sci-fi posters. An IT manager I worked for came in once and had a barny that we had a Holly Valance calendar hidden away between desks out of sight of the general public because it was "smutty". She was fully clothed throughout. No environment I've seen fits the stereotypes presented here, all they're managing to qualify is that people with no interest in IT have even less interest when shown a workplace that has no resemblance to any office in the real world... bravo!
In a previous life I worked for a Defence company and have seen just this sort of dithering from the MoD on every single occasion. I'm amazed we have any kind of mechanisation for any of our armed forces. Think back to the days when we had the most accomplished Navy in the known world, now we're sending out vessels that aren't even properly/appropriately armed.....
I read about this on the beeb this morning and it's hilarious. What was even worse though was that Westminster claimed that she was actually doing " a great job" as home secretary...I mean, if she can't even fill in her expenses correctly what hope do the rest of us have against her constant removal of civil liberties.
And I include myself in thas as I have a copy of Brain Training for my DS. The lowest "Brain Age" you can gain on the game is 20, I'd therefore take issue with the fact that 10 year olds were used for this study. I am hoping that their brain age is considerably below 20. But then again, scientists doing studies without neccesarily using the correct demographic is nothing new.
I am sure there are 10 year olds who play it, but this study seems a little pointless.
I was talking to my wife about just this sort of thing last night. Apparently we are not supposed to be able to take responsiblity for our choices, our actions or any other part of our lives. Responsilbility needs to be palmed off to any Tom, Dick or Harry that we can claim made the bad man do bad things.
I agree with the comment about watching more NASCAR means you'll drive faster. I bet if they redid the same study about violent beahviour being linked to violent video games I bet they could also accurately state that sitting in a chair causes violent beahviour, after all, they tykes would be suitably seated to play wouldn't they? This kind of drivel needs to stop. Humanity is doomed to even greater levels of fail if this theme of diminished personal responsibility continues.
How long before enterprising boffins fit say spybot with a video camera that jocks can use to electrotape themselves to the windows of attractive young women for a spot of voyeurism, or is this the kind of toy that little Johnny could be seeing under the Christmas tree in the next 5-10 years?
Paris icon for obvious reasons.
He can blame OPEC all he wants, oil might cost more $ per barrel but when we pay the highest petrol prices in the civilised world due to the tax on it his argument falls flat on it's face. I'm sure the Sheikh's in their golden palaces think it rather amusing that Mr Brown complains about their stranglehold on dwindling natural resources while the real price of petrol is around 40p a litre, the rest being the governments "cut".
I wish he'd take responsibility for the screw up that HE has made in terms of this country's economy. I remember when "new" Labour first came to power and every one was cheering, I told them then this was not going to end well for the country...........
You can put all the ratings you want on the computer games but I guarantee it will not stop little Johnny 4-year-old getting his hands on the latest copy of GTA. You can regulate all you want but half the parents don't care what their kids play anyway. Or they'll just go and download it off the web like they do now....
