"The marketing name has nothing to do with the internal version number.
Same as with Linux."
Very true... I was actually going to mention Patrick Volkerding jumping the version of Slackware from 4 to 7, just to match the version numbers used by other Linux distros of the era.
But then, what's going to happen when Windows marketing name goes through another 87 number changes... will it skip from Windows 94 to 96?
<-- facepalm for me not noticing the 6.3 staring me in the face in the screenshot in the article.
The difference is the empire-vassal role here is reversed at least in the money flow, and it's the US that pays tribute (read: interest on treasury paper) to the Middle Kingdom.
Anyway I just ordered one of those generic Chinese android phones off fleabay...Interested to see the outcome.
T-Mobile USA (not to be confused with other T-Mobiles that I've had the misfortune of dealing with aka one2one), have been providing excellent service since I've been dealing with them... for a PAYG customer, once you top up with $100 of credits, you become a "gold rewards" customer, here's a copypasta of the "gold" customer text:
What is Gold Rewards status?
With Gold Rewards status, you automatically receive 15% more minutes for free, and any unused minutes won’t expire for a full year!
How do I qualify for Gold Rewards status?
To qualify, spend just $100 (in any combination of $10, $25, $50, or $100) in T-Mobile refills for your Prepaid phone.
When will I get my bonus minutes?
Gold Rewards minutes are received on the NEXT refill card you redeem after you have officially qualified. More specifically, you will receive bonus minutes on the refill card redeemed after the one that carries you over the $100 refill mark.
Can I ever lose my Gold Rewards status?
Yes. To maintain your Gold Rewards status, you must keep your Prepaid account active. Activating a new line of service will result in the loss of your Gold Rewards status.
"Clearly only in America... I think that's the only place the big lorries have the same motorway speed limit as the cars"
Also Washington State... "Speed Limit 70"..."Trucks 60"... Will take a picture next time I walk across the I-5, probably Friday.
"A few years back there were rumours that the site was up for the chop."
Rumours? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/11/jodrell_bank_auction/
Obviously missed the reference...
A power supply purely of Japanese invention.
"a new "improved" model which was steered with the feet and accelerated/braked using the knees, to leave the hands free for tweeiing"
As opposed to the reverse (accelerating/braking with the feet and steering with the knees) to leave the hands free for tweeting/texting, as we see now?
@DF118... nah this is the right place. Slight rephrasing...
lol, it would not surprise Eadon if they did pull something like sticking Metro on everyone's Win7 PC and then say it was a programming bug that'll take 6 months to fix.
OBLIGATORY ALL-CAPS EPIC FAIL COMMENT.
Or the Doctor Who episode Bad Wolf.
Trinn-e: But that's a Compact Laser Deluxe.
Zu-zana: Where were you hiding that?
Jack Harkness: You really don't want to know.
Trinn-e: Give me that accessory *BANG*
That's about all that's left of the JANET legacy, the UK having the .uk TLD. The Ukraine was always .ua or at least since 1992, when they were still .su, and I think they may now also have .ykp (.ukr in Cyrillic letters). It's just as well as giving the UK the .gb TLD would have just about required IEDR to open up to Northern Ireland, which they did in 2002 anyway.
It is a common issue with SSRIs that they cause suicidal ideations. Not good when they start happening before the intended effect of the medication (2-4 weeks, or longer), and you have this nice big bottle of pills sat there. Paroxetine (Paxil) and fluoxetine (Prozac) have the same effect in this regard, as do citalopram and sertraline, at least in my experience.
"But we have run into a small inflationary problem, owing to the high level of leaf availability. So I gather the going rate is something like 3 major deciduous forests to buy one ship's peanut. So to obviate this problem, and effectively revalue the leaf, I propose we take on a massive campaign of defoliation and, burn down all the forests."
(No doubt someone will correct me on Jon Glover's lines here.)
Proof indeed that Groupon is the brainchild of B Ark survivors.
I'm also keeping my eyes out on something like the Yuntab P500. If it turns out as good as it looks, I might be able to ditch ("gently retire") my P990. I had an old Cect P168 but it would only have one active SIM at a time, and suffered an accident involving water and quite a lot of quicksand-type mud.
Needs to be something hard and sandpapery, and no lubricant. Covered in Tabasco? Barely 2000 on Scoville. Something more like Scotch Bonnets, or Moruga Scorpions.
