Re: So
Redefine the dollar as 0.00063326222 ounce of gold, or its non-weighted equivalent, 0.0001 mole of gold.

I haven't used vanilla Ubuntu either, I've always shied away from it for coming with Gnome, preferring Kubuntu instead (and I guess with Unity it's not a bad thing). Still, have always used command-line apt-get for package managing. Caches through apt-cacher-ng that way, especially now that Kubuntu comes with Muon as its package manager.
And there's another one... apt-cacher-ng is useful if you have several machines that you want to maintain all the packages/updates for. Especially useful when my first command line on a barebones system is something like:
sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update; sudo apt-get --yes install app-install-data-medibuntu apport-hooks-medibuntu; sudo apt-get install firefox testdisk gimp ubuntu-restricted-extras libdvdread4 pdfedit unzip kcharselect traceroute gcc g++ krdc virtualbox scribus scribus-template scribus-doc xsane imagemagick libdvdcss2 mplayer vlc flashplugin-installer sshfs nfs-common fslint; sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
I want to be the only one
Like no one ever was
To squash them is my real test
To sue them is my cause
I will trawl across the net
Searching far and wide
Each fondleslab to understand
The patent that's inside
Applemon!
It's only me
I know it's my destiny!
Koh, you're my best friend
For a patent we must defend!
Applemon!
Round corners so true
Our cash mountain will pull us through
You sue me and I'll sue you
Applemon!
Gotta sue 'em all!
Applemon!
I'm sure the Finns drink far more coffee...
Depends on your definition of coffee.
If one definition (say, the Finnish definition) is the infusion of water through ground coffee beans*
and the other (from a coffee shop called SunDeers) is a pint** of water or frothy milk with a small tincture of the above coffee mix, then the proportion is far, far greater than 3:1.
*this is El Reg, no doubt I'll be given correct terminology
** venti = 20 (ounces) = 1 pint
I'm trying to find the source of the materials that Beijing was trying to implement half-decent (or probably only quarter-decent) environmental regulations, but was stopped by same objectors who did just that, threaten to take their business to countries without such an "onerous" burden, in which case it will be the United Fruit Company vs weak (and corrupt) governments. But agreed, it's good to see that in Shenzhen at least, they're trying to break out of this "race to the bottom" mentality for wages and conditions.
So now the question is... will the United Fruit Company see this as (a) a reason to pull out of Shenzhen and move to, say, Indonesia or even Chongqing, or (b) an excuse to hike retail prices of orders of magnitude higher than the increased wage cost?
