Was enjoying the article until I saw the RIP at the end, which meant there was not going to be a follow up.
A pity with all these entrepreneurs collecting old kit, no-one is collecting the memories of those who used it (and how they made it work). Perhaps we need an archive of their experiences for future generations to refer back to?
does not happen on it's own. It takes dedicated incompetence on the behalf of HR, the immediate supervisor and the IT manager. Not to mention an internal vendetta or two.
I have seen great managers in IT, they are assertive, have the ear of senior management and are direct and honest in their dealings (with both subordinates and their peers). And they are as rare as hen's teeth.
We actually say "asians" here rather than "orientals", but the word "asians" means pakistani and indian origins in the UK, rather than the type of people Prince Phillip would casually comment on their physical appearance.
have you ever seen "once were warriors". my brother was a sparky for the housing corp, he said it was a documentary.
and many people actively chose not to go there. It is more cosmopolitan but is also jammed with loads of people in close proximity, in NZ terms (two harbours on opposite sides of the isthmus). The North Shore (where your author was based) is quite well off, with South and West Auckland being the grotty areas. There are loads of foreigners there as well (orientals and pacific islanders mostly) from the Pacific Rim Nations, so expect a different cultural vibe to the place.
Seriously, you know how certain areas of the UK get slagged off for being backward? The Aussies are worse and quite frankly pride themselves on it (imagine a "chav" with worse dress standards and a larger car, and you have a "bogan"). Set your watch back 40 years in terms of social progress and halve your IQ, and you will fit right in.,
of the couple who were denied fertility assistance in australia after they had unsuccessfully tried to conceive naturally for 6 months. They protested this refusal quite voiciferously. Apparently when the law was drawn up, it did not conceive (sorry) of both members of couple being lesbians.

Not half bad, did drag on at the start and I will admit it is basically a vanity piece after the LOTR. The madness scenes with Thorin were quite effective and it did not feel as contrived as the first 2 (with the introduction of the love interest yadda yadda). Sir Pete should have trimmed it at 2 episodes but I'll buy the 3D edition of this one in 9 months to complete the set.
Holy cow, a user that wants to follow due process? Most users spend more time justifying to me why they do not need to follow the process than they would have spent actually filling in the forms. And it does not help when the user hints at contract renewals coming up and the managers cave and allow it to go through "just this once" (repeat ad infinitum).
but men passively resist this. Why? Because so far "equality" means "all the stuff men get to do". When I get 50% of the "stuff girls get to do" (interior decorating decisions, keeping a home, both nurturing and disciplining offspring) then I will be more open to talk of "equality". But most Men are not interested in these sorts of thing and society as a whole does not think less of them for it. True equality is still several generations away, once men and women have cottoned on to the fact it means a larger change in attitude than has been made so far.
