Re: Oh god - I can't get rid of this image
The film Strange Days springs to mind, 'nuff said.

I'll admit to liking Larry when I was younger as well, not just Larry though, I was a bit of a fan of most of the Sierra games, probably for the same reasons why I was a fan of the LucasArt point and click adventures as well.
My Dad was a computer consultant, so not only did we have a colour monitor but he'd also built a 5inch floppy drive so our household was probably cutting edge ;-)
"Having to copy and drag movie files using the filenames is just awful in Android..." what are you using to achieve this?
I have a NAS which all the apps from all the devices get backed up too, so effectively creating an App library, I then use ES Explorer on all the devices to access the apk/movie file to download/install to the relevant device.
... after playing with a 13" Win8 tablet from Wiacom with the entire Adobe software suite on, I've come to realise how useful a tablet this size could be for work. The multiscreen option gets some use on my Note 2 but the screen is too small for the feature, I could imagine it being more useful on a tablet though.
Not quite sure how this size would go down in the home consumer market but for work I could do with something this size, the Wiacom version would be more suited to me due to it running windows software, shame as I like the Samsung connectivity options.
I think his boils down to the fact that far more Android devices are sold on PAYG and they are the sort of users that tend not to increase their mobile spend by using data when out and about, they may be more inclined to use WiFi when available but I think it is more about the fact that even your cheap "I just want a phone to make calls and send texts" crowd will end up with an Android phone regardless of the features.
I always remember the day someone said to me I don't want a camera on my phone, my reply was, soon you won't be able to buy a phone without a camera. Fast forward a few years and replace camera with smartphone. Some of these stats are just completely pointless.
For clarity, I'm not an iOS fan and Android has it's faults, I'm currently using a Note 2, not because it's Samsung but because it has the S-Pen and I use it for that purpose quite heavily.
We can definitely assume 1 Adult was watching it and unlike other parents probably did which is just plonking their children in front of the flat-screen childminder whilst they are in another part of the house, they may remember to send the kid to bed at some point in the evening.
And to compound the problem, as soon as that high price is hit everyone will try to shed their coins for cash creating confidence issues with the commodity which in turn brings the price down.
I still don't understand why people are referring to it as a currency, from what I have read it has a limited number of coins in the algorithm so that makes it a commodity surely?
If I had any coins, I'd be drip feeding them into the exchange now for cash before it's too late.
That's got to be the killer, is all those listeners using their car radios. I need to upgrade my head unit soon and my primary functions need to be FM and Bluetooth if DAB is included I might have a play to see what it is like in my area but other than that I won't look for this feature at the moment.
Equally I'm not going to upgrade my head unit unless it gets damaged so it's now or never for DAB in my car.
"When the humans arrive, the robots and the humans will work together in conjunction building habs, laying foundations, and working together in a tight relationship,"
Or more likely because they have been left alone for so long, the first humans that arrive will get an arse kicking and then the robots will issue an edict stating that Mars is theirs, stay away.
Prime example of the type of idiots that Twitter brings out of the wood work.
The person complaining that they can't shop online by posting something on Twitter, I presume they are using the new telepathic tweeting facility rather than an internet device, you know, the sort of device that allows you to surf the web, which co-incidentally also has a few eCommerce sites on it.
Sounds like she is using the Google Glass case to divert attention from the speeding fine, which is the real reason she was pulled over in the first place. The original story states that it wasn't until the cop was talking to her and writing the ticket that the issue of the G-Glass came up.
I can't find the source, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Samsung has already attached the damages it needs to pay to Apple to it's last set of financials, hence it took a very minor dip in share price (I think it bounced back relatively quickly) because they adjusted their earnings call to take it into account.
So in theory Samsung will next year be able to quote a healthier earnings (compared to the last one) which will probably make their share price jump a little.
This sort of damages award isn't going to stop the juggernaut from rolling, as they are investing billions in another 1 or 2 factories somewhere.
But if they are sitting in their car with the keys in the ignition (as you would sitting in a traffic jam) and you are holding the phone then they could probably still fine you for using your mobile phone as it is in your hand, regardless of whether the engine is on or not.
That's about as close as they could possibly get to a prosecution of sorts based on the photo evidence. Fingers crossed though most of these numpties will write a comment with the picture admitting what they were doing at the time to make the prosecutions job easier.
I also went into the settings and couldn't see an off button, so I selected 18 then waited until it had confirmed my choice and it was saved, then the 'off' option appeared lower down the page which I was able to select.
I'll look after my own thanks, I think I can do a better job than the government and Sky.
@CAPS LOCK
The Googorola and Android worlds are 2 different things in my book.
@phuzz
From what I've heard the space needed for an microSD card slot and chippery to go with it (even though they are incredibly small) are valuable space on the circuit board that some manufacturers would rather not take up.
Sorry it was Android Authority I got the other article from:
http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-replace-cracked-nexus-7-screen-209240/
My memory was clearly shot yesterday as it was eBay I got the unit from not Amazon, it was from a user called 'weloveaccess', they have good standing on eBay and they have more stock by the looks of it, the unit comes with some tools for prying.
The trickiest bit I found was removing the silver plastic surround from the unit, a hair-dryer is definitely recommended to loosen the glue, if any gets stuck to the screen don't worry it is possible to peel it off and re-apply it to the plastic surround so you can stick it to the new unit. Almost forgot, have a pair of tweezers on standby as well ;-)
Ditto, recently had a similar experience with my son's nexus 7, bought a screen/digitiser as he'd cracked the glass which had broken the digitiser. I didn't like the thought of tackling the glue holding the screen to the digitiser so just bought the whole unit for about £55. As good as new now.
If she hadn't have been speeding the cop wouldn't have noticed the Google Glasses on her face.
It does raise an interesting point for this state on where they stand with HUDs for cars though, as technically they are a monitor, Glass is pretty much the same as a HUD, it's designed not to obscure your vision.
The majority of folk I know are on Facebook and that seems to just fill my news feed with rubbish most of the time. G+ on the other hand has some good communities, generally speaking the folk on G+ seem a lot less aggressive and a lot nicer to talk to compared to Twitter. My G+ feed provides a good chunk of news and interesting articles and as for Twitter, it just seems to be broadcast channel of crap.
Region locking is a cock up by Samsung, but only because they badly explained it when they first released details. When you first activate the phone you need a local SIM from the country it was bought, just to activate it, after that you can use a SIM from another region.
The way Samsung first pitched it, it did sound like you couldn't use another regions SIM in it ever but that isn't the case.
"The product is only compatible with a SIM-card issued from a mobile operator within the region identified on the sticker of the product package," Samsung explains, in a statement sent to CNET UK.
... that I'm going to get this when my Note 2 is due for an upgrade, I can't imagine having a phone without a stylus again. It's made my desk paperless, now if I could just stop all the snail mail I'll hit digital nirvana.
The only reason I would be upgrading is because I need the extra storage space, other than that, there isn't a busting lot of improvements on this compared to the Note 2, bit of an Apple 5s really, didn't think Samsung would copy them to that extend ;-)
Who cares whether Apple have one planned or not, the move in to wearable tech was coming again whether Apple was thinking about it or not.
Apple are good at re-inventing old tech ideas, other manufacturers think that's a good twist on an old idea but we could do better and to Apple's detriment they usually do.
