HP are always behind the curve on this.
I'm in the market for some new arrays, budget is not such a concern, and I've evaluated the Dell EQL, HP Left Hand and EMC VNX. We've decided to run with the VNX simple because of the functionality it offers such as the SSD Caching and Tiering.. Dell offer tiering on their high end EQL, but AFAIK HP have no such functionality for arrays in this price bracket.

Build it yourself, and they will surely come... Get a case with Hotswap drives, 6TB (4x1.5TB), 16Gb RAM, i3 CPU.. for the marvellous price of £300-£350. Take your pick of OS, personally I went for ESX then slapped on a couple of VMs, but you could just as easily go for FreeNAS etc.
If you don't want to get your hands dirty, buy yourself a HP MicroServer for £150..

The interface needs a big make over, and for some reason load time on games is 2x longer than my xBox (once I copy them to disk).

Its about centralisation and easier management, if you have a large Virtualised enviroment with 50+ Switches from various manufacturers, it means you can manage and make changes from 1 central location. At present you may to add a new global VLAN you many need to log into each and every switch individual which could take hours..With things like OpenFlow, such a change can be made within seconds..

I do wonder what the difference between these guys and the Hybrid SAN's offered by existing "Tier 1" vendors..
All I know is they cost about 2x more, I'm currently in the process of purchasing an EMC VNX5300 with 2TB SSD and 12TB 10k SAS with all the FastCache and FastTier features for about £28k.. When I enquired with these vendors, they wanted closer to £50k.
So do we get 2 years in the UK?
I always thought we got 12 months warranty on electronic products...

I won't dispute what you say regarding performance.
But they are way over priced, I approached nimble and told them my budget and basically got laughed at, so I phoned Dell, who sold me a PS6100XS for £26k.. if your unfamiliar with this box, it has 7x400Gb SSD and 17x600Gb 10K SAS HDD... so I got the Daddy of the EqualLogic for half the price Nimble and Tintri wanted for their entry level boxes..

I recently brought a £250k house with a £12k deposit..
Some banks will offer a mortgage with 5% deposit, on top of that there are literally dozens and dozens of schemes to help first time buyers. Either government backed, or actually assistance provided by the housing developers.
