We've all seen The Corporation, right?
Stakeholder responsibility and social awareness are not allowed to come into the tax-decision making of a publicly listed company: they are mandated to do whatever makes the most money for the shareholders. If they didn't use all available tax loopholes, they'd get sued.
So GoogAmazApple are right to tell Parliament / Congress that if they have to change the rules if they want to stop loopholes getting exploited. Trouble is, then their mates at the banks can't use the loopholes either, so it's unlikely to happen.
for every "self-righteous moron" that you are spared, three more will be created for you by Disney.

You can break up quietly: Go and update your settings to not show a relationship status.
Re: China is in a difficult position
Agreed. Are the western govs listening then? Because that'll be us in a couple of decades, max.
And that, ladies and gentlemen....
...really IS ironic.
Now we know the cast....
we can get to work imagining the plot. They needn't bother making it really.
True, the OS X EULA does say this. But happily they would give you a couple of shiny stickers with your retail OS X, so you could label your own.
I fb'd a message suggesting the looters pool their resources and get down to Canary Wharf... guess i'll wait for the knock at the door then!
nah just kidding. It was China.
I wouldn't trust it to some jumped up twat in a suit either.
Thats a lot of effort...
just to kill people, isn't it?
the benefit is,,,
it is a step towards the obsolescence of cash.
No cash = no cash-in-hand = more tax for the greedy bastard government.
No money for soldiers?
Better pack up shop and come home then. Permanently.
Great opening line...
"New UK defence minister Liam Fox has fallen into the clutches of fearmongering armsbiz lobbyists, according to reports."
If only the rest of the pathetic newsweb could cut through the crap so accurately! Well done El Reg!
Hardly fair to complain about supporting customers.....
...since MSI make the shittest motherboards available!
Don't like it??
Don't buy one then.
"We have taken the unusual step of sharing information about these attacks with a broad audience not just because of the security and human rights implications of what we have unearthed"
Yeah right, not just because its China then.
Wouldn't hear a peep if they thought the US was spying on human rights activists.
Hang on a minute...
"Someone being beaten up should be a crime," commented Szrodecki.
What, like 'assult' or something?
Their behaviour is inexplicable.
What if politicians all over the world are so keen because they've all been told that this level of control WILL happen; and that they'd better get the public used to the idea, whether the technology is there or not??
Would that explain it?
Guy Fawkes? Terrorist??
Rolemodel more like!!
Science Vs Religion
Scientific academics don't believe in God because they are much more likely (due to years of training) to be strictly 'seeing is believing' - thats how science works.
Anthropological academics have a broad knowledge of many cultures whose definitions of 'God' greatly vary, making the academic less likely to believe any one God story.
Anyone with an understanding of both disciplines knows that what religious types call 'God' and what boffins call 'Energy' have more or less the same desription, and therefore believe the God story was born of misunderstanding.
As was once said to describe organised religion:
"scary language designed to control primitive peoples"
Thats A Bit Rich....
...Coming form the World Bank.
Maybe if they stopped mandating that countries to which they provide 'aid' have to spend it on grow-once Monsanto zombie seeds, food prices would drop somewhat...
Just a thought but what do I know, i haven't got a degree in <del>population control</del> economics.
I had a WD Caviar that actually set fire to its protective foam. Didn't help that WD put all their chips on the underside of the pcb for maximum heat!
