Re: Grrr!

I agree. This info-deck from Martin Fowler is nice in that it extracts some of the more important concepts about Big Data from the buzz-word itself:-

Agreed about the UK - see here

Although I don't like that "vary and is subject to change" clause.

(Really Reg, no links in comments? Meh)

Re: Too much ?

NFC isn't just for payments (/stealing credit card and passport details). It's also used to communicate between devices (like the new Nexus Q)

Other weird technicity

In the later Girl-W... books, Larsson seems obsessed with Hotmail accounts at the expense of any other webmail, and ICQ as a current method of people keeping in touch, as well as Yahoo Groups. Maybe that's just the way they roll in Sweden...

Why not download the patch to find out?

Use Reflector to check the current code, download the patch and compare.

If it's still an issue, then put your own wrapper around the ScriptResource functionality that will only return specific file-types...

Re:Why is it called an xbox 360

Um, yeah - if you turn 360 degrees, you end up facing in the same direction you started in....

But it's not the same vulture

It's clearly facing the other way

A fairer test...

... would have been to compare the camera-phones with a digital compact, which is more the market that they're trying to compete with. We're a long way off anything the size of a mobile phone competing with a DSLR!

Sort out Customer Service

I think it's good that DSG are trying to keep at least some high-street (/retail park) presence and revamping their stores accordingly, but the main reason I don't shop in any of their outlets is the appalling customer service. If something goes wrong with anything you buy from Currys/Dixons/PC World, then you are in for a world of pain trying to get it repaired/replaced/refunded.

Whereas, if I buy from (e.g.) Debenhams, or Comet, I know that my problem will be dealt with sympathetically and efficiently. I'll happily pay a 5% mark-up for that!

"I can see dinosaurs from my back porch"

Where is this quote from? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the article.

Taking a leaf from the tabloid journalism handbook?

iPhone 3G isn't *necessarily* equipped with a spell-checker?
