Better Late than Never?

On 3rd June 2008 SBOVIS posted:

"Hi,

I am on the look out for a 2D/3D background artist for the sequel to LIMBO OF THE LOST. This is a % of royalty position for the right person.

The backgrounds need to be in 1024x768 resolution and the end result is a static 2D image.

Other parts of the job will be for alpha masks and layers within the scenes. Approx 80 backgrounds will be needed, if you can construct in 3D using an editor like Unreal 3 etc all the better."

Bit late for that now, mate, innit?

Motorola slashes R&D lab by half

They never learn

Motorola made the StarTac - a really innovative phone for its day. Then they flogged the same design to death for ten years while Nokia overtook them in leaps and bounds....

About 15 years later they made the RAZR - a really innovative phone for its day.........

Sounds familiar?

Even Scarier Error -Gas this time

I had a far scarier error.....cos the bill COULD have been right...

I changed gas provider and suddenly my bills seemed to double.

Phoned them to query it of course but they would not budge.

Next bill, also big....phone again. Well, they gave me the option of having a calibrated test meter fitted....but if the bill was correct I had to pay for it (several hundred pounds). This scared me off and I just wondered if our consumption had gone up that much.

After checking old and new bills with a fine tooth comb, I found the problem. I had a new metric meter but they were charging me in imperial units approx. 2.5 times as big - hence the bigger bills. Idiots!

Brit apiarists demand £8m to save honeybees

14p ...or 30 quid

So there are 250,000 hives in the country?

Instead of everyone in the UK supplying 14p, what if the apiarists coughed up 30 quid per hive? - that would just about cover it. Surely the honey produced by one hive per season pays far more than that?

Rural folk seem to go begging for handouts every time something goes wrong, where most other industries (OK, banking aside) would have to solve the problem themselves.

EU to ban the patio heaters that ate the planet. Not.

Strasbourg

I'm surprised no-one has yet mentioned the huge waste of time, energy and money created by the MEPs and all their hangers-on regularly decamping to Strasbourg to hold parliamentary sessions there. I am sure that having the Parliament always sit in Brussels would do more for the planet - and our wallets - than banning patio heaters.
