Times have definitely changed...
This whole Wikileaks thing has definitely changed everything. Gone are the days when we had to wait for someone to leave a laptop on a train to find out all this exciting and secret information.
Oh, and can someone let me know when they start releasing the good stuff about aliens and what really happened to Elvis, as the current stuff is a little dull frankly...
It would appear they didn't drum constantly enough.
Your point 2 should be stated as "The speed of light *in a vacuum* is constant.
This is a very important distinction as light travels at different speeds depending on the transmission medium. Just look up refraction for and everyday example of the effects of this.
I'm not sure how the author can draw the conclusion that gamers are fat and miserable, surely it should be that gamer are fat *or* miserable. The article states that male gamers are more likely to have a higher BMI than non-gamers, but does not anything about the BMI for females. Similarly, the article states that female gamers are more likely to be depressed than non-gamers, but does mention anything about the mental state of male gamers.
So unless the sex of gamers is not mutually exclusive (admittedly that would explain a lot about gamers) then the author really needs to learn a little more about Boolean logic.
I think there would be quite a few soldiers that would be happy if 100% of Bowman equipment went "missing". It would mean they wouldn't have to carry round an extra 20+ lbs of deadweight and they could just stick to using their mobiles.
BOWMAN = Better Off With Map And Nokia.
What types of biscuit is the dispenser compatable with? From the pics it looks like it will support the industry standard digestive, but what about more exotic types like custard cream and ginger nut?
This is a nice stimulus package for the UK tech industry. Sounds like there will be a fair few jobs for networking and coding monkeys. Of course when it's done I'm sure you'll get a few stories about how it help to prevent some terrorists incidents similar to the one in Manchester the other week. Trouble is anyone that is serious will be able to get around this, so it's really not going to make any real difference.
... but can it fly?
@Bunch of heathen!
Americans don't know what real bacon is! All you can get in this Godforsaken country is thin strips of crunchy flavourless gristle, and a lot of the time it's sweetened!
Can someone please try this bacon butty and let me know if it really is as good as they say before I book my flights. I haven't had a proper bacon butty in over a year and I don't want it to be an anticlimax.
This will be a good lesson for the kids
I think the kids will benefit from this whole debacle. It will teach them a few things if they want a career in IT or a lot of other industries.
1) Make sure you read and understand the requirements before you start.
2) If the requirements are ambiguous or confusing (Microsoft compatility pack), get clarification.
3) If you make a mistake from not reading the requirements, then it is your fault.
4) Don't trust management (teachers) to know what they're talking about.
Then get someone to replace any remaining optimism you may possess with a healthy dose of cynicism and possibly some drug dependency issues and you'll be ready for a career in IT.
A better way to encourage kids...
How about paying scientists and engineers a decent wage for the job that they do? Surely that would be more encouraging?
Paris, 'cos she's paid what she's worth.
@You have no privacy.
I like the irony of you posting as AC.
I think Team Stella would have done a better job. That would be me and a few mates knocking something together after some beers...
Lock him up!
Sounds like a potential terrorist to me!
To be fair...
... it's probably better for the Internet if they don't let Hull on there. If you've ever been to Hull you would understand.
The scary thing is...
... if she did actually run, then she would probably win!
"I regualry carry some 80K names and ids in my laptop.. and these are certainly NOT encrypted: i have to choose between encryption and compression, and I don't have enough space..."
Why do you have to choose between encryption and compression? Compress and then encrypt. Problem solved.
Actually here's the ressponse from Stephen Hawking...
So what happens...
... when they boot up my laptop and Linux loads. Because they don't see the familiar Windows logo, am I immediately classed as a terrorist/hacker (pretty much synonyms these days anyway) and on the next plane to Gitmo?
So all the immigrant haters...
.. want to become immigrants themselves... ahh irony, don't you love it.
I wonder if there is a Canadian equivalent of the Torygraph where they all complain about the British immigrants ruining their country.
So Fuhrer Brown has a high opinion of the police
Did I read this article right and that without this DNA database 114 murders would have probably got away with it. Doesn't this imply that the police can't actually catch criminals without DNA evidence. It does make you wonder how any crimes got solved before we used DNA. Perhaps by old fashioned detective work, of course the police are far too busy for that these days, filling in paperwork, fiddling statistics and making money from motorists.
If we all had ID cards none of this would happen....
.... I'm not sure why, but I'm sure it must be true.
Given that climate change is causing the world to experience more and more extreme weather, fossil fuels are running out, the world's population is spiralling out of control, the socio-political climate is causing food and energy prices to rise... why are hot dogs sold in packs of 10 while hot dog buns are sold in packs of eight?
We have photographic evidence that Ashlee is indeed a lady-boy
What are you missing in Firefox? Everything that was in Opera 2 years ago...
Where does the money go?
Whilst I agree in principle about charging polluting vehicles more, the question I have is where does the money raised from the congestion charge actually go? If it is actually spent on improving public transport or invested in green technologies then great. But if it is spent on subsidising Ken's jollies then I think there is a problem.
Does anyone have any idea about how the money is spent?
While they're at it...
Last time I checked MoD had the whole of the 25.x.x.x IP subnet. I would guess that a class A would be worth a few quid these days...
