Sod Villain or ChocolateEclair
It's totally all about Cronos Droid. :)
I'm happily running a very stable 2.1 release with Sense and JIT enabled ;) it even works with the lock screen. :)
RE: A Mac users perspective on W7 #
You wrote all that just to say "I'm a Mac fanboi - I don't need Windows7"?
I like Win7, I have done since the beta, thru RC1 to retail. It works, it's faster than Vista, prettier than Vista, more stable than Vista.
My fave feature is the "drag-window-to-edge-of-screen-to-resize-it-nicely" trick. :)
IT, Mike speaking...
I started my role in IT support 2 years ago in a company which had no such previous position. I was allowed to expand my roll as much as I liked, which has been fantastic.
I often talk to people about what's going on, where things are changing and what they think could be done to make our services better. Some of these things come to fruition, others don't, but it has helped a lot of frustration get washed away.
I'm also the face of IT. I've improved the perception of the IT dept (wasn't hard - it's not easy for two guys to implement new systems, maintain current systems and support the end users), which has really helped me stay employed during the recession.
Another frustrated Orange customer here. With an invalid s/n, I just gave up. I've now installed the MoDaCo patch with very few issues, and it's wonderful now! It really is how it should have been at the beginning. I'd like to see a review of this phone now that it's been updated. I'd dare say it'll get that ever elusive "iPhone killer" title...
Why didn't you just buy it at £45 then? That's as good as it was ever going to be. You're the fool if you missed the great deal.
but it's a Release Candidate... get over yourselves Mozilla!
Jesus, you'd think MS were evil for bundling their browser with their OS.
If people want FF, they'll download it. Christ it's pretty much the first thing I do when I install Windows.
You want a bigger market share? Then do some large scale marketing of your application - don't expect MS to bundle it with their OS just because you feel left out.
Yes, Linux works with fewer system resources, well done.
Thing is, I really quite like my iTunes 8 with genius playlists, my games, my music production software.
We use Windows for a reason!
I love this Win7 beta tbh. Tis Vista with XP performance. It's only fallen over when I've tried running iTunes' visualisations (which I seldom do anyway)...
Go MS. You finally seem to be getting the hang of this OS malarky!
Is it just me....
but who thinks this is all a little silly now?
Let's make some real sweeping generalisations here. There are 2 types of people who use computers, us IT goons on here and every other IT site, and then the rest of the world.
Now, we obviously care about which browser we use. Some of us want addons, some want security, others want porn mode. But the other people, those normal people who know that the internet works by clicking the "Big Blue E", do they really need this? Do we really need to bamboozle them further.
The way I see it is that by bundling one browser, MS are giving everybody all they need. Lets face it, if you don't like IE, you fire it up once, download the setup file for your browser of choice, then leave IE to rot in software hell.
Former PC Gamer
I used to be a PC gamer. An avid one at that. Thing is, I just can't be arsed with it anymore.
I now have a 360.
No longer do I have to install games, check specifications, update drivers, update the game, reconfigure the controls, buy new hardware, find help in a forum, crack the exe for NOCD...
I just put my game in, and play. If there's an update, I press (A). That is all.
Also, FPSs are finally becoming good on consoles! :)
You should've resisted!!!

It was my 23rd birthday yesterday! :)
She's 11, not the brightest kid in the world, but damnit, I'm proud she got that one right!
My little sister
Recently gave me a birthday card. She made it herself. She managed to correctly place an apostrophe (It's your birthday).
Shame on you Sainsbury's.
Hard to get a job?
Sorry, but I just don't get it...
I've got no qualifications above A/S level, I had no experience of a commercial environment, yet I still got a job as IT tech support...
10 months later I was offered a contract from another firm offering 160% of my then current salary. A job I only applied for just to "see what happened".
So that's 2 jobs, in less than a year, with no qualifications and less than a years experience.
In the end, my current job gave me a pay rise, but the point still stands...
That's what's wrong with today
The traditional terrestrail channels team up to provide unified broadcasting services via the web, and they get screwed.
This is rubbish. Absolute rubbish.
Mine's the one with an analogue TV in it.
Pay for these streams?
You're having a laugh!
There are loads of free streams out there. Hundereds infact. I love it! I can watch Euro 2008 in my front room, but if I go upstairs to my room, I can stream the game! Yes!
Goodbye Real Player,
Farewell Bloated ware
It's a long long way to obosoletion,
And now you're [FINALLY] right there!
Thankyou ladies and gentlemen! My name is Mike, I'm available for weddings, birthdays, christeing, bar mitzvahs and funerals!
Thank you! good night!
An area marked in chalk when the BOFH and PFY are about....never!
My PC came with Vista installed, and I had no downgrade option.
You ask if people have benefitted from Vista. I can honestly say, no, not really. I'd imagine my PC would run XP in a much smoother way, and probably a little faster.
The thing is, I don't really care. It does what I need, and it does it in a stable environment. Granted all I do is browse the net, listen to music and use a few guitar related apps, but still, it works, no questions asked.
This is all I need.
The question is, would I benfit from downgrading to XP? The answer, barring a slight increase in speed, would be no.
Well, I own this game, and the only thing I have to say is meh.
I can't be bothered with it. I don't want to have a girlfriend. I don't want to go drinkning with mates. I just don't care.
The gameplay itself is nothing new at all.
Honestly, I play Geometry Wars on my 360 more than GTA IV.
... but not quite nice enough.
I have a k850i with 8GB of memory. It can do 3G/HSDPA browsing, has an MP3 player, a 5MP camera and a radio.
I also will always be able to type a message faster using T9 than on an iPhone.
Agreed with the above remarks or iPhone Nano. That WOULD make me interested.
Maybe next time eh Apple?
Reminicing the days of UT:GOTY on my 12mb PCI Voodoo2. Running in glorious 800x600 resolution. The days of Glide were golden!
Brown told breakfast telly show GMTV he was concerned about "skunk, this more lethal part of cannabis".
Since when was skunk lethal? I know loads of dope smokers, who smoke nothing but skunk. None of them are dead.
Paris, as an intellectual companion for Brown on this one...
Why bother Max? It's not like the French haven't seen this all already. Trying to seize all papers showing these images? What? It's far too little, far too late.
Your name has been besmirched already, stop making a further fool out of yourself by trying to hide this dirty little "secret" of yours. The cat is out of the bag, and is apparantley in a nazi uniform...
Paris, well, I'm sure El Reg readers can work that one out...
Wii at almost PS3 prices?
I'll take 100 PS3s from your supplier right now, and make a shed load of profit!
As for speculation, it's going to be a new stand for the Wii, in a nice, sexy, lime green colour. Also, they'll be showcasing the latest firmware update which FINALLY lets you keep the sexy disc tray light thing on at all times! :D
