Review: Samsung Galaxy S4

Re: Ho-hum

Doesn't even come with predictive text?

My S4 seems to be quite well provisioned in this regard - when I'm typing SMS or email it's all predicty in a little bar above the keyboard. The fact that it also has slide-keyboard support built in is icing on the cake.

ps: Yes it's got a plastic back. This is a good thing rather than a bad thing, so when I inevitably put a honking great scratch in it I can replace it with another back from Ebay for 3 quid. Try that with an aluminium unibody. The only drawback with a plastic back is the frigging thing keeps getting stuck on my Clingo car mount.

Guild Wars 2 game review

Hopeful, but we've heard it before.....

I'm an avid WoW player - yes it's got a bit bogged down and stuck in the holy trinity / grind for gear concept. However, when it get's it right it's still pretty epic in places, and MoP has (as far) been a real step in the right direction.

However, I think the genre could well do with an injection of new blood and innovation, and it sounds like GW2 might actually just manage that. The kicker will be whether the development team can keep players interested in another 6, 12, 18 months - it's no good just being great in the short term for a persistent MMO.

Fingers crossed - WoW could well do with some competition to drive innovation, but this is the 4th 'WoW Killer' I can remember off the top of my head, and you no longer hear much of the other 3...

BOFH: Xmas party: Get a wriggle on

Happy

As usual.....

Pretty damn good. I still go and look up all the old BOFH from '96 onwards every now and again if I have an hour to kill in front of the PC. I know I'm licking ass, but it's christmas and I think Mr T deserves a bit of seasonal cheer!

UK boffins uncover more secrets of the gamma ray burst

Why bother?

Because some of us like to verify the truth about the universe around us, and see how we can apply what we've learned to making it better. I have no issue with people believing in the bible, but what's the point of existing as a species if we just blindly accept everything written down and proclaimed to be the truth.

I'll accept Genesis when you show me a version hand written by God. Until then, lets keep looking at his handiwork for ourselves!
