US appeals judge shares porn stash with world +dog

Some more points

1) A woman painted to look like cows? One cow, weird but possible. One woman painted to look like many cows, that's an acheivement!

2) Public hair? I'm sure there's many hairdressing sites showing that happening!

3) Bestiality, surely?

4) How on earth does one "accidentally" get hold of pics like this and then upload them to a website?!

5) I only have four points.

Joe

Re: Only a problem on Windows Safari

Actually, I think that warning only applies to certain types of files (executables, plus PHP scrips and others), not all files. So the problem does exist on Safari for Mac.

Surely a simple dialogue box saying "Download this file? Cancel/Continue" wouldn't be hard to do?

Final point - I'm sure Safari for Mac defaults to downloading to the Desktop, too (there is no default Downloads folder that I'm aware of!)

The most ridiculous thread ever?

So, how about if I fit a premium-beer letterbox to my 1950s time-machine fridge, bring it forward to two years from now, clone a Sky card, take it back to 2005, and watch TV from the future (via the fridge)... Is/was that legal? Or am/was/will that be/have-been/will-be against the law?

When flash mobs go bad

A bit of fun for most

Most people there are just having harmless fun, but there is a (small) nasty element who are there to spoil it for others.

Have a look at the Facebook photos for last year - there's one where they're ganging up on a cyclist, another they're spraying into a soft-top car. Not really on, that, and it makes everyone else look bad.

By the way, having lived round here since 1978, I can say that Leeds is infinitely better than Bradford. (Though that's like saying rabbit pooh is better than dog turd. I'd rather have neither!)

ITV

One could argue that people who watch this tat are too thick to understand any of this anyway. Perhaps Ant and Dec should present an "ITV Big Fine Saturday Special Extravaganza" where the couch potatoes vote for which charity the money goes to? There could be Tonight-style "investigative journalism" pieces with scary music so they know who the baddies are.

Yes, I hope you're right! For far too long the Great British Public has considered satellite TV == Sky. Having a non-Sky setup was considered odd (especially as one of the non-Astra sats is unfortunately called "Hot Bird").

Yeah, you're absolutely right, but the market doesn't want it (as the sales figures show).

Personal Computing seems to have arrived at a point where 99% of users can do what they want, and have no reason to upgrade. Actually, I think it arrived there in about 2005.

If a 5 year old PC can run a web browser, spreadsheet, word processor, email, and run them well, why pay for faster hardware just so you can pay for a new OS that will enable you to continue to do what you've been doing all along?

Fasthosts' dedicated servers go titsup

Oh dear...

So I go on to have a look, only to be met with a "Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to MySQL server..." error. (He wasn't aware of it, either, and says it worked fine on Friday!) @ Neil Jones

Yes, you're right, we're a long way from being like East Germany or the People's Republic of China.

However, it's not an instant thing, it's a sliding scale. (I know it's a horrible comparison, but Hitler didn't start herding Jews into concentration camps on the day he was elected - it was a slow process that took years of small changes of personal liberty. Not that I'm suggesting the UK is like Nazi Germany!)

Government powers have to be kept in check, or before you know it, we're not such a long way from it after all.

@ImaGnuber and the AC

What "identity problem" is this then? The one the government insists we have, or the one that Sky News makes you have sleepless nights about?

So you think fingerprints would have stopped someone copying your license plate? Surely you didn't actually pay the fines, you must have told them it wasn't you, right?

Fraud is nothing new, it's one of the oldest professions, I reckon! Ridiculous ID schemes do nothing to solve it. They're for the benefit of the government and big business, not the public - they just make it harder for us to prove our innocence.

Ten years from now: "Sorry sir, you were definitely speeding. Your fingerprints match the ones on the RFID chip in the number-plate, which was read by the speed camera as the car went by..."
