5 Gigs not enough
Ha you should see our telecommunications in South Africa. With good old Telkom, on average the packages are between 2 and 3 gigs. Then after wards international traffic is down but local is uninterrupted. (at a fee of course)
Just one question
Who's your daddy?
Wow the human race is more screwed up than I thought. All you people who think its funny, wonder how you would all feel if your kid (yes animals are like children to some people) or even your pet if this happened to.
I still signed up for a free Opensolaries live CD a few weeks ago. Well after playing with it for a while, I could not get my Audigy and Network drivers to work. No matter what I did.
Sun is going to have to do a hell of a lot if they want it to compete with already well established versions of linux.
Until then, I shall be using my Vista and Ubuntu
You people seriously
Some people I do not understand, you guys complain how much you hate IE. Then now you are complaning how much you dislike Firefox.
YOU CAN NOT PLEASE EVERYBODY!
It's about time
Well its about bladdie time they fixed up Home Server. Its even more buggy than Vista before SP1.
I'd take the gun
What happens when Ford meets the wild west? Personally I'd take the gun, that way you could just whip out your gun when you going to fill up. Easy way to get ones money worth.
The bird, yeah if you charge me for the fuel
Since Vista was 5 years late, who expects the service pack this decade anyway
We need this why?
Now if it could make coffee fine, play music (gimic) fine but suck. Unless its supposed to suck some one who well "ahem"
Paris cause, well c'mon she's good at sucking
Ok, reseach starts with which nations has best legs. Why do people get plastered at parties. NOW THIS? Who on earth allocates this research?
Paris cause she's always ready to try new postions (I mean things)
As Philip said, you guys have it easy,,, here our DSL prices are insane and of cause the service has its moments when its slower than dial up. To make it even worse, there are many areas where we can not even get DSL
@ Philip where in SA are you? Me in Western Cape
Living in South Africa
Ok, now this coming from someone who lives in South Africa, yeah sure our broadband sucks, (I only get 2GB cap a month at 384kbps); however if those mallware scum (I mean makers) really want to cause us trouble. They will FIND A WAY TO DO IT!
What ever the cause of the crash, at least most of the people survived (or everyone); I don't know about you all but I would not have been able to accomplish what those pilots did)
Lets be honest no piece of software is perfect, whether MS or not. Personally I think if
other office applications were used as much as MS Office, then there would be more known issues.
Stick to topic
Gotta say who ever came up with that one, has some skill. Throw away the keys!
*Off topic rant*; why is it that most people can not stay on topics with these comments. I mean seriously don't the admins read this stuff. So then do not complain when an article does not have an IT angle, cause when it does your comments are off topic.
Good old South African here
Personally I really love El Reg, and of cause the humor thats added to everything. My really only complaint is when people still to this day ask "where's the Paris Hilton angle"
I swear I will scream!
Yeah and I love anydvd
Personally I feel that a FEW non intrusive adertisments are acceptable. But when you are watching TV for an hour and the show is about 30minutes while rest is ads. That is going to far. Now on DVD's, give me a break, do you really want to pay for something and still get ads with it.
Hell no! If this happens, hello streaming internet and of cause hello anydvd!
Am I missing something?
Surely thats not it? I mean if it is.... Then dang
In South Africa
Well in South Africa all that they did, was charge people for each and every plastic bag. Sure in the beginning people complained but many got used to it.. I presume less people are using plastic bags or just continue to use the same ones
Wouldn't it be better?
So much for $100 laptop eh. Anyway if the company can afford to give one to the needy and one to the donor. Then wouldn't it make more sense to rather donate 2 laptops instead of one to needy children. Instead of giving one to the donor (who I doubt if they can afford to donate would really want a PC like the OLPC)
Guess no body told him
I often wonder why products often ship with warnings that are so obvious (example do not use your BBQ in doors) but I am guessing that this guys "SHOTGUN" did not come with a warning.
Attention do not shoot objects at close range, due to the facts bullets can and do ricochet'. He will probably end up suing the manufacture now.
Fedora 8 looks impressive
To be honest I have never been fond of Fedora but I must admit Fedora 8 looks very promising. Now if only my damn surround sound would work on it. My personal favorite addition is pulse audio. Similar to what Windows has when you can adjust the volume for each application individually.
Now I have seen it all
Ah, oh well even if it would take an entire life time to reach another planet etc. At least everyone will have fashion sense. *Hides*
I could ask whats the IT angle but...
Well asking whats the IT angle I guess would be plain pointless but another Star Trek movie. I dunno hey, part of me thinks it could be pretty good of cause its never good to milk an old cow
Stupid question here but how come didn't he end up in a coma?
@Dale I must agree with you. As you say lots of MS products at the start seem to be pretty crappy but after a few months/years they do seem to improve. I personally think Windows Vista is the perfect example of this. Anyway back to the subject any ideas on how many more centers MS is going to build?
Talking about the morals
Thats true that "Flowers for Algernon" is fiction. My feeling is (no not saying that its right, just a personal thing) if we ban people in sports for using steroids before a race. Then would it be unethical to pop a pill before writing a test, etc?
Medical science and the human race
Pretty sad that the human race is not happy with the abilities our brains have to offer. If people are going to start messing around I suggest they read "Flowers For Algernon"
School will never be the same again
I have to know, the teacher stood there watching for ages. Until the boy was supposed to rub cream on the stripper. Didn't she notice the woman moving around in her underwear????
