Re: I really get tired of this bemoaning 'evolution instead of revolution'
I'm just fed up of the phrase. Every review of every iPhone, Galaxy S, even Ford Fiestas currently states "more evolution than revolution". Is it the buzzphrase of the moment or what? It's predictably included in pretty much every review of everything these days, and states the bloody obvious! Stop it reviewers. Stop it!
Subjective, of course, but I deliberately bought a bog-standard Unicomp space-saver with the original IBM style buckling-spring mechanisms. Loud and noisy and perfect! Technically the model is not very old (manufactured on Feb 3rd 2011, a day after I ordered it) but I suppose it's an old keyboard still
How did Play go down one spot?
The one above is a no-change
That's not noisy
I'd love to see how bad my original Vectrex is. Now those things made some buzz!
I thought this
I've no experience of virtual disks though so assumed that they had been different up to now?
News to me
On the subjects of OLEDs and blacks; my phone has one of these "HD Super AMOLED" screens and when I power it on it has a completely black screen with a white "Google" in the middle. You can't easily see the edges of the screen, but there's a massive glow around the white. It's a lot better than the LCD on the wife's Sony Ericsson Arc S, but it's certainly not pure black when it has high brightness in the adjoining pixels.
Oh, and IIRC the Samsung Series 9 TVs (at least the BIG ones) have the connectors in the base and run up to an incredibly thin panel. As mentioned by other people here, it does seem like the most likely solution on such a thin panel.
Lastly, I want one. Now
We recently used Wave to collaborate on a project at work, and one of the members accidentally added his friend to the Wave. We couldn't remove him though, so then he had access to all of this company information that he wasn't supposed to. This was in the preview version. However, in the developer sandbox, it seems that any Wave participant can remove any other participant, so I could be working on something important and then find myself unable to get back in to the Wave, and I've lost everything? How is that better than email?
No problem, but I can't get on the Acid3 test page
Not Exactly New
Toshiba had a simple LCD touchpad that was used in a similar fashion on an Satellite laptop. I think it was a 7200, or something like that. Similar, only it was only B&W and didn't support multitouch
Not a Reg April Fools Joke
Unless, SGI and Rackable are playing it on us all.
I own a few SGI systems, including Octane2 workstations and Origin200 servers, and they're great kit, but SGI rested on their laurels for too long
Of course Welsh doesn't have equal validity, especially not outside Wales. I don't want that on any card of mine, ID or otherwise. What a waste of space. I'm not keen on the French, but at least more than 10 people speak that
Not as long as IE7 is the alternative MS browser. Still running IE6 alongside FF2 thanks, no intention of upgrading to the drivel that is IE7.
That's what Fusion is! We recently got an ADSL business line installed to free us from the restraints of the company network and we noticed Fusion Devices showing up in the router's firmware. Wondered what it was. Now I know I couldn't care any less. Thanks!
I'd have preferred to have heard about it from Dreamhost themselves. I emailed them this morning when I received my email telling me I'd been charged so much. I've only just switched to monthly payments too so I was baffled as to how I got charged for a years
"All this compares badly with the 270,000 sold in the USA"
As much as I want to see the iPhone fail miserably, isn't the USA a LOT bigger than France, or Germany, or even the UK? So you'd figure that there's probably the same percentage of morons in each country and therefore sales of the iPhone in the US would be higher than in these individual countries?
How many iPhones were sold in Montana? Or Texas?
"UK gamers have complained of an unreadable error, when playing Halo 3"
I can read the error, so what was the complaint? Was it too blurry or written like CAPTCHA?
A Geography Lesson
"A 30-year-old Glaswegian has suffered what may go down in history as the greatest hangover west of the Mississippi"
I don't geddit? Without crossing date lines isn't Glasgow east of the Mississippi? Is this some odd saying that us Brits just won't get?
Stripper V Gorilla
"And in case you're wondering what kind of parent would subject their offspring to this kind of humiliation, the mother in question told the school she'd actually ordered a gorilla"
I'm wondering what kind of parent would send a gorilla to school for their 16th birthday, what a bitch!
Expensive Way Around?
So this guy is actually flying around in the air shooting down non-existent targets? Strikes me as the expensive way around surely. I thought simulators were supposed to be a cheap and safe way to train pilots? Putting them up in a plane crosses both of those off the list. If all that he's doing is shooting down targets he's never seen I fail to see the point!
