Microsoft dishes out six critical updates

NIS & Vista

Norton Internet Security is an evil, awful piece of unnecessary badly written bloat-ware. Uninstall it immediately. I suspect Microsoft would tell you to uninstall it too, and tell you why, if it wouldn't bring on a lawsuit.

Vista for me has been completely stable for 12 months. I love it. The search stuff. The explorer windows. the smoothness of it.

No problems with Vista

I have no problems with Vista, and nobody I know has any problems with Vista.

I was proud to be 100414,3126

I joined in around 1992 or 93 with my 286/1mb PC and my 14.4k modem. It was absolutely fabulous. Chatrooms, news photos and early online banking via TSB spring to mind immediately. A whole world opened up to me from my teenage bedroom via DosCIM and later WinCIM. I made friends that I still have in America and Canada and I made my way onto the internet via their Mosaic browser in 1995. They even had early internet user homepages via ourworld.compuserve.com and I had one also in 1995.

Sad to see it go.

Signing off,

Another vote for Hibernate

Hibernate works fine on every PC I've ever used it on (XP or Vista). It takes my 3gb PC a maximum of 1 minute to be back where it was when it was hibernated. I only shutdown/reboot when an update forces me to. Both my laptop and desktop run happily for weeks like this.
