UK.gov plans 'consensus' on PAYG phone registry

Saves me a trip to Syria ... .. .

That'll be convenient - the last time I really wanted to show my passport to buy a SIM card, I had to travel all the way to the dictatorship which is present day Syria. Just goes to show how much we can learn by sharing in others' cultures, rather than getting mired in our outdated traditions of civil liberties and democracy that hang around our 21st century necks like a millstone.

Just one question, are birth certificates have their price linked to passports' ? And if so, is it true what people say the penalty for non-payment will be?

Yours, ever grateful to the UK state for protecting me from those horrible, scary terrorists (except for the IRA and the UVF who actually did kill people every other day but don't mention them, eh?),

Citizen, sorry - I mean Subject, C Milard.

Chinese takeaway biodiesel man in garage explosion horror

Laugh a minute.

Man gets 20% burns over his face and hands then has to be airlifted to hospital. Top cue for a frivolous headline and article. Maybe you could of added a shot of Simon Weston to give us all something else to laugh at.

Calum.

BBC calls DRM cops on iPlayer download party

Anyone got an iPhone they can check with?

The only two things I can see are either a different outcome from the math.random function on the iPhone or + availableStreams[0].pid + (see http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/script/1.7/iplayer_info.js also) is generated differently somehow. Not being a Java programmer or owning an iPhone, I can't tell though. When I look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/b00936r3.shtml?src=ip_mlt I get the link http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/3/auth/iplayer_streaming_http_mp4/b009hdr4?431410 generated when masquerading as an iPhone. Anyone with an iPhone like to see if something different appears?

Turkey probes The God Delusion for 'insulting religion'

D

Is it competition time or something?

Seems like there's some sort of bidding war going on for the most shit-thick, regressive claim of criminality going on.

We've had the ever progressive Saudi establishment insisting on the incarceration and whipping of a women for having the brazen feminist lunacy of not only getting raped but complaining about it.

Next up the Sudanese government offered to flog a teacher for calling a fake bear after an imaginary man - AKA Mohamed.

Now Turkey, upset at suspicions of liberality cropping up, reaches for the blasphemy laws once more.

So far, a certain flavour of Islam seems to be hogging the limelight: come on Jews and Christians, where are you? The Lords Resistance Army of Uganda, I'm thinking of you just about now... .. .

Mind that Rabbi who blamed hurricane Katrina on Louisiana's black population as they 'don't do Torah' really wouldn't go amiss either,

Security minister defends ID cards, longer detention

D

It's all worthwhile now.

Despite being utterly and bitterly opposed to Id cards and the accrual of biometrics by the state, I'm prepared to accept any and all the government has to offer if they can keep up a supply of terms such as 'the sort of giga-terror bits of information that need to be looked at.'

It's like the Day Today and Brasseye never happened ... .. .
