Blu-ray Disc a 'bag of hurt', says Jobs

Andrew Roberts
Jobs Halo

I'd agree with Jobs if everyone had fast broadband

" the "best" so far is 720p with a stereo soundtrack"

That's what I thought too, but I rented a HD movie off AppleTV last night and was surprised to find a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack...

I'm fortunate to get an actual 16Mbps broadband connection where I live and the movie was ready to watch in less than 30 seconds and didn't skip a beat the whole way through.

With that quality (no 1080p matters not to me as fast moving movies don't benefit from it and it just takes longer to download) and fast broadband I can see it *is* the future. I certainly have no interest in BluRay.

You can as long as you also refer to Latin as that's also dead...

Jobs in 'Apple not perfect' shock

Andrew Roberts
Jobs Halo

news to the media maybe...

Actually Apple fans know Apple aren't perfect, we've been using .Mac for years and that was always ****.

Its just they're *generally* better than the competition in most things.

It's all relative...

O2 buckles under 3G iPhone demand

Thumb Up

I had no real problems

I walked into Carphone Warehouse in Lakeside just gone 9:30 to sort out my upgrade from my 2G iPhone.

They told me there was a long delay but I said I didn't mind.

They put my details into the system, reserved my 16GB unit and told me they'd call me when it had gone through rather than make me sit there.

So I popped out for a coffee and a wander around the mall. An hour later I had my phone.

No real problem as I didn't have to wait in store.

Activated it at home, restored my backup and now browsing the net 2-3 times faster than the Edge version.

The aluminium backed old model felt better made though and I see no improvement in signal strength...

BBC must reveal EastEnders costs

Andrew Roberts
Thumb Down

If they want public money their full records should be public

I'm sure I read somewhere that Eastenders costs £250,000 to make.

Per episode...

It's by far the most expensive programme they air.

My tax money (it's a TV tax, not a licence, let's not kid ourselves) should not be spent on soap operas.
