RE:no stepping down

it is aprently a little known fact that short of being convicted or killed mp can not resine there seats the only way is for them to be apointed to a crown job and only 2 of them are keeped so mp's can leave is terminally ill or blare I think one of them is the office of the Chilton hundreds or somthing so standing down at the next election is prob the best they can do with causing masive disrupotion by-elections are very expensive

London to become Europe's e-car capital, says Mayor

good

I like the idar it is importent that some public boady jump starts the hole "no cars cos no charging points/no points cos no cars thing"

but

"Finally, we have rapid charge points: 200A, 500V three-phase supplies able to top-up your Tesla S in five minutes flat. However, the potential of these posts is still being “investigated”."

I did not think battry tech in cars could do 5 mins charging?

Governator revives anti-violent video game crusade

michael

@ summer glau

first off big fan of yours sorry to see your show cancelled AGAIN :)

second that point is fine but only as long as it gose the only 2 problems I see with a law as you describes

1. if the law makes perents who buy a 18 rated game for there kids a crimal

2. perents who do not understand the law and let there kids play the games and then kick up a fuss in the papers and the we end up witrh violent games being banned completely (cos the papers relay rule the country

Another 0.03% of Blighty goes wind powered

michael

@ more pepol

@jonB

nuke plants are on all the time so they produce what they say wind are on when the wind blows and so they prduce a fraction of what they say

@Anonymous Coward

yes a solar cell on every roof in the country would produce more than a nuke plant but 1 it will cost much more and 2 I am not going to put one on my roof till the gov diliver it to me

@Anonymous Coward

fresh water is not a problem if we have power

@Anonymous Coward

it is not the mount of children that is killing the planet it is the fact we all live till after we are 50-60-70 and we retire and stop being a contributor

sarah is there a way we can stop so menyt pepol posting ac it is getting confusing to reply to them

Thumb Up

@El -Reg as ever with its bunkum anti wind stories.

I have a true story of a office site near a wind farm and every sunny day in the after noon they had to shut the wind farm down as the sun trough the spinning blades caused migraines to the pepol in the office so they are not as free from environmental impact as you calm

0

michael

@ pepol

@ AJ Stiles

wind power is not the only way of getting no fosile free energy there is sola bio mass wave hydro and nuclear just cos our gove seames to think wind is the best/only way dose not mean we all do

@ac

not ever hoiuse can use wood or pete (most eco pepol would prefer we did not use pete or chop trees at all) and burinign rubish is better done at proper incinrators (less local polution) and there for genrates electricity not local heat and yes we have less power intencive devices than in 2001 but we have moire of them I doute there is much change in household electricty usiges

Home Office to keep innocent DNA samples

michael

@Simon Miles

I would be happy to be on a data base of "innocent" pepol but that is not what this data base is it is a "criminal data base"

if the government want a data base of everybody to help solve crimes (for example by telling them everybody who was in a certain taxi) then let them ask for that in there manifesto take that to the houses of parliament and get it enacted.

what they asked for was a database of criminalises to help prevent reofending and they have expanded it to "everybody we even think might have committed a crime" even if the police are open and honest and only use it as they say then this is not a good thing

Win 7 RC fails to thwart well-known hacker risk

michael
Thumb Up

@Greg Fleming

ok sorry I mis phrased what I was saying

"Errrrr .... nooooooo. It does not. It keeps track of the file type by the associated flag that the FS assigns to it when it is created. The file type is NOT in the header (text files have no 'header' for example) yet the OS knows what it is by keeping track of the app that created it or the permissions that are assigned to it by the user."

so a file is created and flaged as a file type (for this instance a jpg) how is that diffrent that a file extention (as used in there original system NOT as used in windows) except that is is a hidden flag not a visible extension I am sure if linux was AS widely used as windows there would be tricks to get round this type of thing

0
0
michael
Stop

@Greg Fleming

all linux dose is hide the file extension in the file header rather than in the open and when the dos oppertaing system was first developed anybody who could get to see the file extentions knew what they meant. of linux was as popular as windows I am sure there would be similar problems with it's way of doing this as we find with dos/windows
