Listen: WORST EVER customer service call – Comcast is 'very embarrassed'

tempemeaty

Desperation and an unreasonable number of points to cram into calls....

After listening to that call again I can hear the ~ dozen Scripted Bullet Points, Required Offers, Statements and number of attempts/efforts the agent is "Required" to make(or force fit) on the call in order to meet his metrics. In my past two contracts missing just "one" of those would result in a instant firing with a "Failed Call" score on your metrics.

Like other agents I've heard, this one has the same desperate tone any agent gets into when their metric driven requirements don't fit into the call.

tempemeaty

Call center hell...business as usual....

In the past I worked on two call center contracts for two separate major ISPs. The agent call flows and scripting to do the kind of thing we heard was not unusual. Consequence to the agent for not getting sometimes inane information from a customer would result in the agent's call flow screen not allowing access to the part of the account because it was required in certain data fields to unlock it or go to the next step. Faking data or work-arounds were out of the question. The call center's "Call Monitoring" would give the agent a "Failed Call" score for that agent's "Metrics" for that call and an automatic firing process would occur that was out of his/her supervisors hands. Business as usual with the major ISPs...

"As with most prerelease builds of Windows, this one shows the build number on its desktop. In this case, the OS is described as "Windows 8.1 Pro, Build 9788." That doesn't sound like there's been any major overhaul, as the current, shipping version of Windows 8.1 is Build 9600."

It's just my opinion but it looks like from this part, "...Windows 8.1 Pro, Build 9788." it's likely a feature only for the crowd with the dosh to buy a "Pro" version of the OS. I will believe otherwise when I see it. I can imagine the all the pre-installs from the PC manufactures will continue to be sent out without this supposed start menu.

Interesting how this creates another advantage for Apple

Autodesk CEO: '3D printing has been way overhyped'

tempemeaty

I think Mr Carl Bass is making the same mistake Steve Balmer did with tablets

The average man/woman on the street are the same people who build scale models of planes, cars, dolls, do crafting, projects fixing things around the house, and fixing broken appliances etc. Give them a new market where people sell 3D files for all these projects online and average people buy them, print and build them...I think it would be big for at least hobbyists. It might even draw more people into the hobby realm. Add to that the need for replacement parts for broken devices and appliances which people could get from manufactures as 3D files online then print themselves without having to wait weeks to get in the mail and the benefit to manufactures for not having to warehouse that physical inventory...I think the impact of 3D printing is much bigger than Mr. Carl Bass thinks.

Now that we are on a course of ending all peaceful relations with Russia as it returns to being the old Soviet Union again just re-enforces this. It's just foolish to rely on possible enemies and those who have a historic past as enemies for anything that our national security relies on.

Russia, steping in to fill the vacume left by the US

Considering the US Gov is now wilfully avoiding manned space exploration, it's now up to Russia and China to do it for all of humanity. I keep asking myself why the US Gov has been engaging a wide range of excuses and avoidance tactics against taking manned space exporation beyond orbit. They have been doing orbital science since the days of "Skylab" in 1973. That's 41 years of research on the human body in low to zero gravity. It shouldn't have taken 41 years to do the orbital research to figure out how our next step farther into space should be done. If they did this before going to the moon we would never have gone there.
