Win8 seems to have been primarily designed by Microsoft's marketing dept. Functionality for business desktops just didn't seem to be a consideration at all.

Re: LOL yet another big FU from MS

All Microsoft had to do was release the tablet UI as just another Windows application that ran at startup on tablets. Forcing Desktop users to use a touchscreen UI is just mindnumbingly stupid.

Re: Same article?

Agreed. The problem isn't Android per se, it's junkware installed on junk hardware that's the problem. I think the variety of good hardware and good software available to Android users makes it a superior platform!

As a Backup Exec 11d user (actually happy with BE), What would be a good replacement to run on Windows Server 2008R2? I just need to backup Exchange 2010 and some file servers.

Tired of the lies

In a country of over 300 million people with over 7.5% unemployment and STEM graduates that cannot find jobs, this constant drum beat by corporations demanding foreign labor because "there aren't enough qualified people to be found locally" is a damned LIE!

Foreign labor is brought in to work for cheap. Period.

The number of H1B visas granted annually should be drastically reduced to only a few thousand or eliminated enitrely.

No. Sound is dependent on the observer. Sound is nothing more than how air vibrations are modeled in the mind. Without an observer capable of modeling those vibrations, there is no "sound".

No, in the U.S. anti-trust case it was the fact that M$ started bundling IE for free and illegally used their effective monopoly to eliminate the market that Netscape was selling their Navigator product to.

Google swings new mobile unlock patent punch at Apple

cybersaur
Stop

Software patents

Software patents should be eliminated entirely. A patent on "slide to unlock" is absurd. We've been "sliding to unlock" things for centuries. That is is done with software now is in no way new and unique. All these patent wars do is raise the prices for consumers.

Student suspended in gun rights email row

cybersaur

And this is different how?

I read Troy Scheffler's letter. Unfortunately, it sounds like your average Bush follower here in the States. Pretty typical rant that could just as well have been heard on Fox "News". I fail to see how his letter got him suspended given the fact that a solid 25% of America holds similar right wing, gun nut, racist beliefs. He's just parroting what he's heard from Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Wayne LaPierre, Dennis Prager, Virgil Goode-- the list goes on and on...

It's a pretty typical screed here in Jesusland.
