Agreed, raid 5 much safer solution,
I suspect they offer raid 0 so it looks good spec wise, but I cant imagine anyone who values their data to use this alone.
Drobo has a 'proprietary algorithm' (shudder) for its raid & if you loose the raid, theres a fair chance your data will too.
& for $49 you get...
5 licenses, thats er, less than $10 a pop
Even if it is considered a service pack thats a hell of a lot less than the 'service pack' Microsoft will push out to Vista is going to cost.
Whats more Ive every confidence that like other Apple upgrades, it will work first time. Unlike the tangled mess some MS upgrades can create

My invoice for £19,999 is in the post!
@ what patches?
Sounds about par for the course, I wouldnt be surprised if they are deliberatly engineered to slow down a system.
That & a good old sprinkling of FUD about security & so on, then sit back and wait for the tills to start ringing up sales of Vista SP2,
oops, I mean Windows 7
Dear Mr Smith
Bing looks good for previewing porn, no need for expense claim
Nothing quite like
The smell of burning witch!
Im not sure who I like least out of the lot of them but she is certainly near the top of the dung heap
The only thing I trust Microsoft to do is fuck up my desktop, OS & documents & now it looks like theyre into fucking up decisions as well.
I wonder how that would look in the boardroom, er well, um, according to Bing it said that...
I hope it works,
I suppose better late than never,
I suspect this is just one of several holes in the Microsoft security cullinder thats been plugged.
I dont work with the boring bunch of posters most of you lot seem to be, Its just a bit of fun to brighten up another day!
I had to get IFart or whatever its called, I know its very, very childish but, I dont think I have sniggered so much following a Reg read.
& as for the sensible ones, I have some of them as well - honest.
Thanks El Reg for the article

The money should all be returned to its rightful owners

Its all very well fining Intel, but if the EUs decision is right, then it must surely pay some of the fine to AMD to even the score?
& as for doing this right in a middle of a recession, well that just shows how much grip the EU has on reality, duh.
Is this some kind of joke
or what - check date?
It seems like Dell dosnt even recognise the existence of its feminine side:
Reveals nothing but a few cables
Perhaps Dell is a closet cross dresser & wears its female attire only at the weekends!
Is this really 2009 or 1909 - in fact it would have been embarrassing then, 1609 more like it.
& to add insult to injury, they expect you to pay for it!
wipe the disk first...
Then physically destroy it.
I think the policy is called "belts & bracers" so you wont get caught with your pants down
Its long overdue...
sack Jaqui Smith
To see people being laid off whilst the monkey running the show has no doubt made himself indispensable.
I think thant even some zoos would be hard put to employ Ballmer in a cage, not actually as an employee.
"Microsoft has worked together with Microsoft to develope a secure configuration of XP"
That aside, be a good thing if they did make it available as an update as there must be a huge market for the refuseniks that are hanging on to XP
Or is that cos the Microsoft client requires a cluster of Seymore Crays to run it?
@ AC - The only reason...
Im not sure why, but every time they build up the hype in the beta, the good stuff seems to get left out & what you have is a crock o shite left over. Wasnt WinFS supposed to be part of XP?
Which is why some people may ignore the security implications & stick with XP/2000
