Yeah, it's a drag

Congrats on your first article for El Reg Aubry.

I haven't experienced much of this, as I've worked mostly in embedded systems - there's thankfully not much scope for people to knock up a microcontroller system in a lunchtime.

I have, however, cursed the day Visual Basic was born on several occasions, having been subjected to various half-baked internal solutions over the years.

I've got nothing against making programming easier in principle though. The commercial packages I am forced to endure on a daily basis are bad enough. In many cases you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between them and something built by a history teacher in his spare time, unless you look at the price tag.
