back to article IPCC's final report on climate change due tomorrow

The final part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's 2007 report is due to be published tomorrow. The IPCC scientists are expected to warn that the effects of climate change will be "abrupt and irreversible", according to reports. The report is, as you might expect, a distillation of the IPCC's publications during …

So here is me wondering what the Independent Police Complaints Commission has to do with Global Warming?

"Okay sonny jim, I caught you red handed emitting noxious Greenhouse gasses!"

"Sorry ossifer, it was the curry and kebab i just had!"

    IPCC scam a failure

Over the last 20 years, despite its manipulation of climate science, the IPCC has failed to provide evidence of a significant human influence on climate.

    Bollocks!

There is a vast amount of evidence out there to show that human activity has an effect on climate change, what the evidence cannot conclusively show, is that human activities are the prime or only cause of climate change and global warming.

Also it is not possible to manipulate a science, it is only possible to manipulate data produced by the scientists involved in a discipline.

IPCC scam a failure - A Message from ExxonMobil

With reference to Ross Nixon's blog - check out the source of his link - The Science and Public Policy Institute. Made up of the usual suspects in climate scepticism (i.e. William Kininmonth) still perpetuating the discredited myth that solar variation is wholly responsible for what the sane world call anthropogenic warming.

According to Wikipedia he Science and Public Policy Institute "received $90,000 in funding from ExxonMobil in 2006"

    IPCC - Politics!

The IPCC has ignored the fact that there hasn't been any significant change in the climate for the past 7 years, that this last September was the coldest in nearly 80 years, and that Chile, Brazil, and Argentina are having the coldest November is 90 years.

The basis for human caused global warming is climate models that have never been validated or submitted to peer review. Given the state of knowledge in Climate science these models can not be validated, no body knows what is important and what isn't.

Finally, they talk about "irreversible changes". This is plain bulls*it!. The Earth has been 5 degrees Celsius warmer than it is now within the last 10,000 years. Without human intervention!

    Follow the BIG money

Wow, if true that is $11,000 for each of the 8 people that work there.

How does that compare with the up to $720,000 given to James Hansen (climate alarmist) by a George Soros company? http://www.notesinthemargin.com/archives/392

    Again, Gonads!

The fact that a small part of the world is colder is not evidence to refute global warming, in fact global warming is something of a misnomer. It is much more correct to call it climate change. With higher levels of greenhouse gases there is more energy (heat) trapped in the atmosphere, over the ENTIRE planet this can be read as an overall increase in mean ANNUAL temperature. However in some areas it is still quite possible for temperatures locally to be lower than in other years. It is also possible to have conditions where the ambient temperature is the same as in previous years but it can feel colder and have the effect of being colder, because with more energy in the system winds will be higher thus having a greater cooling effect (chill factor). If you don't look at the whole picture it is impossible to see it.

Also with ice melting and flowing away from the ice fields of Antarctica and Greenland towards the equator means that the waters in those currents affected will be somewhat cooler and will pass on that coolness to the regions they pass by.

At the end of the day whether global warming is proven or not surely it is better to take a little care of the place we live rather than just abuse it and leave nothing but environmental problems for our children and their children?

    IPCC water shortage and population

The IPCC predict global warming will lead to water shortages in some regions. What should be done about it?

NOBODY ever mentions reducing population to match the predicted available resources.

A responsible global reaction to the challenge of climate change should surely include birth control policies aimed at stabilising if not reducing world population. We need a global ethos that more than 2 children is bad.

It's supposed to be science, not ad hominem

Gee, ExxonMobile spends $15 million over 10 years (less than the annual budget of GreenPeace), and that terrifies people.

Meanwhile, the US government spends $80 BILLION, and all we get is Mann refusing to share his data, Hansen claiming he's "muzzled", and ghost stories from the IPCC.

@ the "Think of the children!' comments....

....no-one but you gives a rats ass for your children so shut the hell up for 5 minutes will you?

    Jeez....

    To the last anonymous coward

Evidently you are unable to have children and have a short attention span, unfortunately for you and your missing progeny this make you a prime candidate for a Darwin award, in other words a biological dead end.

It is the people like you who don't give a rats arse for the future who may make us all candidates for the ultimate Darwin award. Incidentally rats arses are useful, they are at least able to process almost anything a rat eats into a biodegradeable product.

    Overall

Btw, the world has always naturally got warmer and colder gradually.

    It all happens in stages.

It gets hotter, then cooler, then hotter etc.

The earth is still warming up from the ice age or whatnot.

Basically we are doing sod all to the climate in general.

    Sceptical eh?

For those of you that have, in your wisdom, decided to ignore the research and conclusions of 2500+ scientists (many more if you include the national academies and other scientific bodies that support them) why don't you let us know what level of expertise you have that would make anyone want to listen to what you have to say on this subject.

I think I prefer the total self interest of the 'I don't give a rats about you or your kids brigade' to the 'i read a scientific article in the daily mail/exxon web site/climatesceptic blog' lot.

Most of the sceptic rubbish can be seen to be a scam if you bother to google it but some of it actually requires you to learn a bit about the subject......I would recommend it before spouting off.

Take some advice from Abraham Lincoln: "It is better to stay silent and let people think you are an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

    Scare stories

If there are 2500+ scientists working in this area they must be of very low expertise level, since they still cannot prove that humanity is responsible for the climate change but can only enthusiasically say that there is 90% probability for this. It seems that the 2500+ are beginning statisticians who have "found" a correlation between temperature & sea level rise and population increase, both of which are well documented since the 1600's. The trouble with beginning statisticians is that when they find such a correlation they really believe there is a cause and effect relation.

For me, unless a statement is proven it is only a hypothesis. And don't come to me with proof derived from any computer model, because they are NEVER a substitute for reality.

Unfortunately this climate change - which has been happening for hundreds of years - has been taken up by politicians and other bodies as an effective scare story to build themselves up in public opinion and to subsequently coerce a lot of money from people's wallets. Talking climate change is a lot more effective than preaching traditional religion, nowadays. And for some reason people are lulled by curious actions like those coming from the Kyoto protocols. It is very strange that nobody from those 2500+ "scientists" is able to show exaclty what the effect is from the proposed actions, in lower temperatures and sea levels. People are happy as long as "something is being done". Unfortunately, the only thing that is really being done is that the public's tax money is being squandered for no clear effect.

    @ Chris G....

....YOU are evidently a self-important serial procreator who wants everyone to go in for a spot of self-flagellation just on the off-chance this MMCC/AGW bollox rammed down our throats daily by the government & liberal media is actually true.

Tell you what, if YOU were so concerned by the environment you'd be shouting from the rooftops about how we should be having less offspring to help the environment instead of using said offspring as an excuse to force your hair-shirt wanabee lifestyle on us proles.

    To repeat:

"....no-one but you gives a rats ass for your children so shut the hell up for 5 minutes will you?"

    Thank you.
