    I don't understand...

    ... why anyone would trust BT with the privacy, security, and integrity of their data.

    They are completely untrustworthy, by any definition of the word.

    BT announces "same service dressed up as cloud" in the hope that people will be fooled into buying it.

    It is still BT, British Telecom still means "out of order" as in "Oi! That's a bit British Telecom", useless turds can't even install a phone line the year you order it let alone run a data centre.

    Here's a recommendation for BT Business, learn to walk before you try to run. When you can manage to be the dumb commiditised pipes between value services and their customers then you can try and play with services, for now, please please please please don't drag your customers into the steaming pit of Pony that is BT.

    a tip for anyone using cloud services

    If you need your data to be secure, the only way you can be reasonably sure it's safe is to use strong encryption before the data leaves your machines and enters 'the cloud'.

    Unecrypted data in the cloud is unsecured, simples.

    so what data rate do the companies need ?

    many of the small 100 man companies round here I work with struggle to get 'BT' to provide more than a 2 Mbit/s link
