    Worth knowing.

I was using Opera last night and it didn't tell me there was an update 11.01, I think it usually does but I'm not sure... VLC does, if you're online when you launch it, but I already noticed there was a version 1.1.6.

      Stop

      A Title Is Required.

      Opera will autoupdate.

        Autoupdating

Unless, of course, you have switched it off and set it to just notify you when updates are available.

Which is a particular annoyance to me - every single time I update Opera, it ticks the box "Automatically install updates without notification from now on" and I have to remember to untick it. Fine, give me an option to switch on auto-updating at that stage, but don't turn it on every single time...

Odd - I don't see an update available for my Mac

Still on 10.63, on my Mac, and doing a check for updates says I'm already using the latest version,

    (OS X 10.5.8, PPC architecture)

      Opera 11 on PPC

      Doesn't appear to be available

      Opera 11

Intel-based systems. Note that it does not work with PPC-based systems, OS X 10.4 or below.

      Opera 10

OS X Tiger (10.4) or higher on an Intel- or PowerPC-based system.

      Not that odd.

      PPC support was dropped.

    Mac version apparently here,

    http://www.opera.com/browser/download/?os=mac&list=all

    11.01 is listed.

I don't remember if they exclude major version increments from auto-notification. I have an HTML file, anyway, of software title home pages to check now and again - it's portable between browsers, obviously.

    For some strange reason,

the earlier version of Opera disappeared from the list of installed applications, the top panel, and the list of programmes in Synaptic on my 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10 setup after the new version was released. Is this an example of what Einstein referred to as «spukhafte Fernwirkung» ? In any event, I downloaded and installed the new version, and so far everything is working well, but I'm keeping a lookout for ghosts....
