back to article Apple denies reported plan to deep-six CFO Oppenheimer

Apple has reportedly been fishing around for a new chief finance officer, even though the iPhone and Mac vendor has strongly denied it is mulling a replacement for its current top bean counter. Translation

    "Peter is not leaving Apple,"

He's going to be fired instead!

"We are not conducting a CFO search"

We know who we want and where they are.

"He loves the company and is extremely happy in his role"

Until he reads this then that will probably change.

Why would anyone believe anything Apple/Jobs says?

There is nothing wrong with iCrap/Lemon 4!

There is No Grip of Death!

There is no problem with iOS4nnn!

The moon is made of cheese (I made that one up)

Sounds like great case for constructive dismissal

Why should the CFO be fired - he only used Apple computers to do the books. (Maybe he bought an Android phone?)

Just like half the managers in the football league come Monday morning if you read the press.

"The board are fully behind me..."

True in political circles as well

You just KNOW that an MP is being shown the door when the PM says that he/she has "complete faith" in him/her.

Could all be a lot of FUD

This is the sort of position that WS would think was important. The haters have tired of repeating the normal mantra that Steve is sick, so now this. Whatever. In the old days, the mantra was that Apple was 'going out of business'. That one worked for a long time, not so good now though...

Get a grip, people. So what if he does leave? He's done a good job, but just like Steve Jobs, he can be replaced, Apple has an enormous lead (wether you like it or not) and a clear road ahead. Just keep making really well designed products that work great and most people (probably not the PC nerds here on this board) love.

Sounds like a lot of FUD--Any new PC stuff at CES? No? Tired of iPad yet?

    On the other hand ...

The Apple has a whole different finance need (going from fringe to mainstream with additional income worldwide probably needs a different skills set)?

    morally bankrupt

Since generally Apple lie then allow me to translate:

"We are not conducting a CFO search."

We ARE conducting a CFO search.

"He loves the company and is extremely happy in his role."

He hates the company and is extremely happy to be leaving his role.
