    Why are we surprised?

Don't forget that Lidl is a German organisation.

OTOH, perhaps the preponderance of such toys amongst the German young is the explanation for the success of their football team (and their F1 drivers).

As they themselves say: "was nicht toetet haertet ab".*

    Ho ho ho

I like the way they've included a bit of tinsel and a wooden "star" to give the saw blades some "Christmas gift" appeal.

Lets have a game of "Screamers" :-P

There were killer teddy bears, with circular saw blades, in the "Screamers" series of Sci-Fi films, but their blades were a lot smaller.

      Jigsaws

I never thought in my wildest dreams buying my nephew a jigsaw would lead to any sort of problem.

Imagine my surprise when my sister phoned from casualty saying he'd managed to sever three fingers from his left hand.

    At 5 quid!

That's CHEAP for a decent circular saw blade!

On the other hand, it's probably hard to keep an edge on soft, plush fabric ... on the gripping hand, my biggest saw only swings a 15" wheel ... 40cm is a hair on the large side ;-)

    Oh the joy

Now the kiddies can head out for a little time in the park with a new plush metal frisbee and have a game of catch with their noisy friends. Be advised that I don't recommend allowing them to bring the dog... unless it's one of those little incessant yappy types.

    When I were a lad....

......we never 'ad toys like that. Oh no, we 'ad Teddy bears and dinky toys, but circular saw blades? I used to dream of circular saw blades.....maybe even a plane, braddle or awl. I even dared to ask for a lathe for christmas when I were 5 years old, I got the strap for that one and had to eat cold gravel for a week.

Kids of today? They don't know how lucky they are.....

Evidently someone on Lidl's web team has spotted this article...

    not a bad price, either

£4.99 is cheap for a carbide tipped blade. they're probably not worth it if they're that cheap.

    E&oe's again?

I blame the playstation generation, any real tool is seen by them as a toy.

Well im off to play chase with the neighbours kids - were using a tesco chainsaw.
