      No...

It would be sad if it were a Ja Ja Binks phone or a Princess Amadala phone, maybe even if it were an Ewok phone... R2D2 however, I find perfectly acceptable.

    Pico Projector

They really should have waited until they could include a pico projector with it.

Somehow the flat look just doesn't really convey the impression of an R2 unit for me.

    FAIL

    Design

I must say, in terms of looking authentic, it's only just behind the Halloween costume. That is described as having a "detailed realistic design on the front".

(Excuse me a minute while I ROFL at that statement)

Then again, Lucasfilm appear to take any excuse to further market the Star Wars brand - case in point: 3D-ifying all six films (err...why would anyone *volunteer* to watch Jar-Jar Binks in 3D?)

But still, dedicated fanbois might like it...

      The only good thing

The only good thing that I can think of about it is being able to say:

"The phantom menace was 18 months ago Tim"

"I know Bilbo, but it still hurts."

      and

"Ja Ja Binks makes the Ewoks look like fucking Shaft"

        Caveat

        Trek is a series

Wars makes a series (albeit many, many years later and involves no live action or doors that go shoosht)

    R2D2?

Look more like R2D2 vs Steam Roller and the droid lost...
